Bicycle brake levers come in two formats, road or hybrid / mountain bike. Road levers are designed to fit dropped handlebars whereas mtb / hybrid levers are designed to fit flat handlebars. Some brake levers will incorporate the gear levers as well, these are known as Double Tap, Ergo's or Sti's (Shimano Total Integration), this makes shifting through the gears and braking a simultaneous operation and cornering at speed a lot safer. Crosstop style brake levers are becoming popular on cyclocross, tourers and road bikes, these fit in line with the brake cables and allow you to control the brakes from the tops of the handlebars.

This is a decent set of brake levers A very good set of brake levers. Minimalist in design, ideal for my single speed. Easy to install with internal cable routing. Comfortable in use. Well worth the money. 28 April 2013

They seem very aero, and the price is very competitive. However, I use these in combination with a set of TRP T925 aero brakes - and the brakepower just seems lower than what I am used to. When you really need to apply power under heavy braking it seems like the levers have a bit of flex. They also need brakecables with a special head that I had problems sourcing. Standard MTB brakewire was to thick to fit inside my brakes. But overall great value! 15 April 2011

Excellent stopping power I purchased these to replace my red alloy Sram brake levels so my colour scheme would match up, but I didnt expect they would increase my stopping power on the TT bike. I had come to regard TT brake levers as sloppy and weak at best however these make it feel more like road brakes. Definitely one of my best purchases of 2010 19 December 2010

yes it does, however if you are hoping that these springs does wonders, than try other brands. your brake lever must be strong enough to provide its own return action. these springs are tiny, but it does helps to some extend.

These levers do have a return spring. The internal diameter of the clamping area is 29mm.

contrary to the previous answer, I purchased these levers, the cables that these levers will take are only the 3T flat end brake cables, and does not accept the normal round ended ones. if you buy a generic brand flat end cables, please file them to 3mm thickness otherwise the cable end will rub against the housing. this is because the lever pivot is only 3mm thick. hope this helps.
