About Seat Posts

A good quality seat post will save weight and hold your saddle securely. Seatposts are made in various materials, alloy and carbon being the two most common, alloy posts are lightweight, durable and cost efficient, while carbon posts are the popular choice for top end machines. Seat posts vary in where they hold the saddle relative to their own centre line so make sure you have enough adjustment on your saddle rails to allow for this or you could end up with your saddle too far forwards. A seat post needs to fit your frame exactly and are measured by as little as 0.2mm. When choosing a new one, either read off the measurement from your old seat post or measure it carefully with a vernier calliper. Make sure you lubricate the frame (unless they're carbon fibre) before insertion or you'll struggle to get it out again.

Best Seatpost I have. I bought this for my best bike as it has a strong black and white theme, I was tempted by a carbon version but I felt like experimenting with alloy over carbon. The post was replacing a cheap nasty post that came on my first bike I just had it lying around so put it on temporally when waiting to finish the build the difference between the two posts was unbelievable. The 3T version absorbed bumps and knocks that you encounter on the less than perfect roads in this country. the white strip compliments the lines of any bike and especially one that has a stem of the same design. It is a nice lightweight well built post that I would recommend to anyone for their bikes. I will soon be buying another 2 for my fixie and winter bike. 09 June 2012

looks good but fiddly clamp This seatpost looks great but the 2 clamps that sit over the top of the rails are really small and fiddly to get into place. I'd prefer a seatpost with a one piece clamp instead. I haven't ridden it yet so I'll wait and see how the clamps hold the seat.....doesn't feel as secure as other posts I've had. 04 March 2011

Tough to adjust seat angle This is a great seat post except that it is difficult to adjust the angle of the seat. With a lot of patience and some trial-and-error I managed to get something I can work with. The quality is good and it fits the oval shaped carbon saddle rails just fine. The 25 mm setback is nice for people with long femurs. 22 February 2011

Answer:

the saddle will go in pretty much anything, the rails can be a litle short if you need to push the seat back too far on the rails. Try a Thompson with set back
