Despite its low cost, it is a direct descendant of the BREZZA and is mostly built of carbon-fibre composites. MISTRAL has multiple elbow-pad mountings in the top skin of the base bar, offering a range of 16 positions. Riders of very different anatomies and aerodynamic posture should find a comfortable position on this super-value aerobar. MISTRAL meets UCI rules on aerodynamic form factor and can legally be used in any UCI event.

About Aero Handlebars

Time trial / Triathlon bars or aerobars include various styles of aerodynamic handlebars extensions for road racing bikes particularly time trial and triathlon bikes. They are narrow, bolt-on extensions that draw the body forward into a tucked position, they are designed to drop the torso into a slightly lower position and narrow your frontal profile, some bars are integrated units that combine the handlebars and tri bars in one unit. Great Value Overall these are very good bars. Taking the price into consideration they are excellent. Firstly they are UCI legal - these replaced my Vision set up that is now deemed illegal due to the 3:1 ruling. The finish on the carbon is a high gloss clear coat that looks spectacular. The slight upturn of the base bar ends is very comfortable. The S bends are an acquired taste but I find they suit my wrists ok. The extension positions are highly adjustable for length, inward or outward rotation but not angle up or down - the whole bar inc base news to be rotated to change the angle of the extensions up or down. Minor niggles - these bars are relatively 'low' so if you want a bar that has the arm rests up high or elevated with a spacer they are probably not for you. Arm rests are a little on the hard side - not as plush as many of the Profile bars available. There are hard plastic plugs covering the bolt holes for various positions of the arm rests. These are absolute murder to extract. I had to heat them with a hair dryer to soften them and use a self tapping screw of small diameter and pull them out with a pair of pliers on the screw. Why they dont use a softer compound or rubber plug is beyond me. Overall - minor set up niggles aside these are stunning looking UCI legal bars suiting those that prefer a lower position. I'm happy with my purchase - they complete the set up of my Cervelo and match the 3T forks that come on the bike! 16 June 2010

3T Mistral bars The bars look great and quality is good, Shimano Dura Ace bar end gear levers do not fit so SRAM levers must be purchased or alternatively use different bars, internal cabling easy to install. The arm pad screw holes are capped which where extremely hard to remove, I had to dig mine out without damaging the threads, might have just been my set of bars. The gear level bars move from side to side due to the way they attached to the main bars, this seems to be typical of the 3T range; so if you give them a hard time during a race you will find a fair bit of movement. 14 June 2010

The Perfect accessory The Mistral Pro Carbon is a perfect accessory for any one using a time trial bike. The bars are very light and stiff. They take any major road buzz out of the picture. You can do a 40K TT with these over any sort of road surface and finish without your hands and arms feeling like they have just spent an hour holding a jack hammer. The only down side is the difficulty in removing the plugs to be able to secure the arm rests. Top tip here: use a small screw, screw it into the plastic plug then pull out with pliers. Having the S bend bars below the base bar makes for a much more aggressive TT position. Being more aggressive gives you much better aero position. I believe there is a bracket you can purchase from 3T to put the bars above the base bar, if the more aggressive position isnt for you. If you want aero bars that are comfortable, fast and stylish, and at an affordable price, these are the ones to go for. 09 August 2010

3T makes brake levers that fit and the SRAM TT 900 brake levers fit too, I got them on mine.

Any brake levers with internal cable routing are suitable for these bars. I would recommend the SRAM TT 900 levers, i have a pair. They are perfect, ultra light and feel really good in use.

This should be fine, however please bear in mind the recommended torque values and the shape of the inside of the stem - no sharp edges should be tightened against a carbon surface. You may also like to use a carbon paste for added friction

Adjustable in High?

Is it possible to turn the bars bracket, so that they (the bars) come from the top side of the handlebars (instead of from the bottom like in the picture) and the pads adjustable in high, to allow a not too aggressive position?
