Great colour and fit. Feel very safe wearing it. Great jacket. Good fit, don't go a size up as you don't need to even with two layers underneath. Very warm even with vents open which is ok at the moment but may be an issue as winter turns to Spring. Pockets are plentiful and well situated. The high vis markings make me feel very safe as it turns to dusk. 04 February 2013

Good commuter jacket Suitable for commuting and training spins. Has a nice soft fleece lining on the neck. The back light on the pocket and the reflective strips are great. Just to note, this is not the kind of jacket that rolls up small enough to fit in your jersey pocket, but there are others in the Altura range which do. I love this jacket! It is a really nice colour and looks great and the reflective bits work v well so I am visible both night and day. I am normally a size 10 but I wanted this jacket for cycling to work in winter so I went for the 12. It is big enough to fit over a long-sleeved top, micro fleece, and body warmer (I feel the cold!) so I'm very pleased. It is long at the back and long in the sleeves so ideal for winter cycling. I also bought the hood so I can use it for hill walking. 15 January 2013

Reflectivity on rear?

There are no pictures of the back of the jacket. How extensive is the use of reflective material on the back? What positions (shoulders, lower back, elbows etc) and to what extent?
I'm interested in how visible it is at night to vehicles approaching from behind on unlit country roads.

Answer:

The reflective material on the back is similar to those on the top front and are positioned on each hip. In the bottom centre back the words 'night vision' also appear in reflective material. There is also a ventilation flap between the shoulder blades and a pocket lower down. Mine also came with a light strip which is battery operated (supplied) which attaches to velcro on the pocket flap which has a couple of settings - nice extra touch.

There is a reflective strip across the rear zipped pocket. In addition, there is a glow stick which can be attached to a velcro strip if you want extra visibility. Arms are reflective too - I feel very safe and 'seen' in mine.

There is reflective piping across the top of the back and down the sleeves. And there are reflective flashes at the bottom of the back plus a bit across the middle. I'd say it's very visible from the back. Plus the one I've just bought had a battery-powered flashing red light strip that attaches to the pocket .

Hiya, if u go on u tube there's a video of the jacket and u will be able to see them yourself, I cycle down unlit country roads as well and work colleagues that drive past me sat I'm visible, also the free lightbar that comes with the jacket is very good helps highlight the lower back reflective strips hope that helps.

It does not come with a hood but there is a hood available you have to search for elsewhere. I highly recommend the hood. The hood is not expensive, well made and secures well for stormy weather. It is so hard to find a jacket with a hood I recommend getting one even if you don't think you will use it much. Plenty of pockets to stow it and you won't notice.

It doesn't come with a hood but you can buy one separately. It comes with press-stud fittings on the collar ready for the hood. I think hoods are currently available in red/yellow/black/pink.

Sizing - 10 or 12

Hi

I'm trying to decide what size to purchase, based on measurements I would be a 'boarder line' 10 but definitely a 12. Reviews say fitting is generous - my most likely problem area could be the hip but there are no hip measurements :(

Any feedback on sizing?

I have a size 12 and the hip measurement of the jacket is 42in/107cm. There are toggles each side to reduce width if required. I am also size 10/12. As I like to wear a fleece underneath in winter I went for the size 12.

I would say the sizing is generous. I am usually a 10 and the 10 is fine for me with plenty of room for layers including a fleece. But it might be a bit short in the body if you are very tall.

I'm normally a big-ish 14 but bought this jacket in a 12, as I'd had an earlier version before and new they were generous.
I usually struggle with things being tight around the hips, but because of the cut of this jacket, I don't have a problem with it.

It could depend on how many layers you wish to have underneath. If you like your layers then get the 12, if not I think 10 will still give a good fit.
