About Lycra Cycling Shorts
Cycle shorts offer unrestricted movement on the bike with the added benefit of a chamois for comfort. They are the traditional cycling leg wear for any distance rider. Lycra shorts hold their internal pad in the ideal position throughout the ride, offering comfort and cushioning for both on and off road riding. Lycra shorts stretch with your body so there are no seams to rub you up the wrong way or restrict your pedalling motion. They are lightweight in material and since there is only one layer of thin fabric, they breathe well and keep you cool on hot days, or can be used under a pair of winter tights. Higher end models will have more panels and will generally fit better, a good pair of shorts is essential for longer rides and combined with a chamois crème make a wise investment.
About the Assos brand
Assos are one of the world's pioneers and specialists in producing high quality cycling clothes and accessories. They are located in a region of Switzerland that has maintained a long standing tradition in first class textile engineering. In the 1970's, Toni Maier-Moussa, founder and chairman of Assos accidently invented lycra cycling clothing, whilst trying to create the ultimate bicycle. During the wind tunnel tests of the first ever carbon-fibre bike, Toni inadvertently found that lycra downhill ski racing suits had much less drag than the woolen-knitted cycling clothes of the time. To this day Assos firmly believe in total product competence, delivering optimum function and comfort, by researching and making its cycling clothing and accessories from the very best materials.

Assos Shorts and Tights
ASSOS apparel is cut for a close anatomic fit that doesn't restrict your movement in the riding position. The bib straps might pull when standing upright but will 'click' into place in the tucked cycling position.
TIR Fit
Assos TIR shorts share the same height measurements as XLG size shorts but feature a wider, more accommodating cut for those with larger builds.

The FI.Mille uses a type of A.360 Spandex textile, which Assos claims optimises muscle compression, reduces fatigue and increases endurance. It also gets a Campionissimo AEPD (Adavanced Ergonomic Pattern Design) insert, built using five layers. This is anatomically formed, and gets some substantial padding. The surface is also dimpled, increasing airflow and wicking. The legs feature 'Elastic Interface' technology meaning the grippers are part of the material, with a small amount of silicone stuck on the inside. A tub of chamois cream, a bottle of wash liquid and a mesh wash bag to stop the shorts stretching in the wash are included in the box.
It's hard to describe how these Assos shorts felt when we put them on. It was almost as if we weren't wearing any shorts; they were unbelievably comfortable. The padding is quite thick around the sit bones, but you can't feel this when riding. Unlike other shorts they don't move around when riding and the Spandex material is so light and breathable it's unnoticeable, even under a pair of baggies.
In conclusion...
The FI.Mille bibs are some of the best shorts we've ever worn and we think everyone should try this pleasure for themselves.
