About Lycra Cycling Shorts
Cycle shorts offer unrestricted movement on the bike with the added benefit of a chamois for comfort. They are the traditional cycling leg wear for any distance rider. Lycra shorts hold their internal pad in the ideal position throughout the ride, offering comfort and cushioning for both on and off road riding. Lycra shorts stretch with your body so there are no seams to rub you up the wrong way or restrict your pedalling motion. They are lightweight in material and since there is only one layer of thin fabric, they breathe well and keep you cool on hot days, or can be used under a pair of winter tights. Higher end models will have more panels and will generally fit better, a good pair of shorts is essential for longer rides and combined with a chamois crème make a wise investment.
About the Assos brand
Assos are one of the world's pioneers and specialists in producing high quality cycling clothes and accessories. They are located in a region of Switzerland that has maintained a long standing tradition in first class textile engineering. In the 1970's, Toni Maier-Moussa, founder and chairman of Assos accidently invented lycra cycling clothing, whilst trying to create the ultimate bicycle. During the wind tunnel tests of the first ever carbon-fibre bike, Toni inadvertently found that lycra downhill ski racing suits had much less drag than the woolen-knitted cycling clothes of the time. To this day Assos firmly believe in total product competence, delivering optimum function and comfort, by researching and making its cycling clothing and accessories from the very best materials.

Assos Shorts and Tights
ASSOS apparel is cut for a close anatomic fit that doesn't restrict your movement in the riding position. The bib straps might pull when standing upright but will 'click' into place in the tucked cycling position.
TIR Fit
Assos TIR shorts share the same height measurements as XLG size shorts but feature a wider, more accommodating cut for those with larger builds.

Magazine reviews for Assos T FI.Uno_S5 Bib Shorts
Review from Bikeradar
When it comes to presentation, Assos are the masters. These Uno bibs come boxed with a washbag (to protect the shorts when washed with other clothing) and sample size pots of both chamois cream and detergent.
This, though, is all really icing on a pretty pricey cake. Do the shorts actually live up to the promise of the professional presentation? Well, to put it simply, yes they do.
The design of the insert with its thick foam pad bonded into an elastic fabric is quite simply the most comfortable we have ever tried.
It conforms to the contours of your shape perfectly and the Spandex-derived material is extremely supportive, giving them the feel of a compression garment.
The bib braces are meshed which makes them stay in place whether they're next to the skin or worn over a base layer.
The Unos are designed to be all-round training and racing shorts, and what Assos have managed to produce is simply the best pair of shorts we've used - there is nothing to fault here at all.
These have been used in all weathers and still look as good as new. If our previous experience of Assos shorts is anything to go by, we can vouch for their longevity too.
In conclusion...
We can't fault the Uno bibs in any way - if you have the money, buy them

Review from Road Cycling UK
Assos have earnt themselves an enviable reputation for producing the most comfortable bib shorts in the world, so when it came to replacing them, not an easy task, it pulled out all the stops with the S5. The bar has been raised again.
Before you get them on, pulling them out of the packaging is an experience in itself. They come wrapped up in branded tissue paper inside a sturdy cardboard box, and a wash bag and two small pots of washing detergent and chamois cream are supplied.
There are three models of S5 shorts in the range. Tested here are the ones that Assos describe for 'All-around racing and training short', the F1 Uno. That sounds like the kind of riding that most of get up to. Oh, and they're also the cheapest of the S5 family too.
What makes them so comfortable you might ask? The new chamois is the oddest looking we've ever seen, with a dimpled (think gold balls) finish which holds the high density foam pad perfectly in place. It's really soft next to the skin and the one-piece construction and lack of seams and stitches makes them the most comfortable shorts we've ever tried. From the moment you first sit on your saddle to the last few miles of a long-distance sportive, you notice the comfort. It's bliss.
In the fit department they're as if Assos paid us a visit and tailor made the shorts for us. How Assos have achieved this unprecedented fit is a six-panel design with an anatomic cut made from a Lyrca that provides just the right degree of stretch, not too much but just enough. There's a flurry of details that advance that fit and comfort, such as the wide elastic leg grippers that never felt uncomfortable, and the wide bib straps and mesh back-panel. There's a smattering of Assos logos to let other cyclists know you're wearing them too.
Caring for them is easy if you follow the Assos washing instructions, but even if you don't they come out the washing machine nicely. This test pair have been put through a thorough test and still look brand new, and we doubt any concerns regarding their durability will ever be raised either.
In conclusion...
They're mightily expensive but they're such a leap forward in comfort that we can't help but recommend them. Buy a pair and you'll never look back.

Also older models had shorter legs with looser grips to make it more difficult for your build. You may need to be prapered for that loose leg feeling.
I bought medium and they just fit, waist is fine but length is just right. I do have short legs long body though.
If I bought again I'd probably get large.

Could you please tell me if the bib shorts come in the proper 'Assos' box, together with the pouch to wash them in?
Thanks!
Answers
My Mille's came with chamios cream and wash liquid, the Uno's didn't.

So I'm hoping medium will be OK. Be prepared to send them back, but start one size bigger than you normally wear - it's a pain getting the right size in these!
