Wonderful bike! Worth every penny! I was thinking long and hard about whether to replace my old mountain bike, which I have owned for over 10 years. It is now a bit past its sell by date and various parts such as the chainset need replacing. My grandfather owns a Moda Finale, which weights only 15lbs, and is incredibly easy and comfortable to ride. After much research into reasonably priced bikes, I came across the Basso Xenon 2011. It is a stunning bike to look at and although at about the £600 mark, I wasnt expecting anything amazing in terms of quality, comfort and its overall performance. The biggest problem for me, was the frame size. As I am naturally tall, I was concerned about the reach from the seat to the handlebars, which was a huge problem on my previous road bikes. I decided to take the plunge and order it that evening. Wiggle were efficient as ever, and I recieved the bike just over a day later. Having never ordered a bike online before, I was curious how big/small the package would be, whether it would be self assembled or not and so on. The bike soon arrived self assembled, which is a bonus, with instruction manuals and pedals. The initial impression was simply WOW. The pictures online do not do it justice. The colour is outstanding, and the entire bike is very good quality. The 58 frame is a perfect size for me (being 6ft 3in), as anything bigger would have been uncomfortable. Naturally I couldnt wait to get it out for a test run. The chainset runs smoothly and the gears shift up and down nicely. For an aluminium frame it is surprisingly light, and easy to shift your weight. The tyres roll really well and are amongst the best I have ever seen. The tyres themselves retails at £100+. The only downside I would say is the pedals supplied are pretty useless, but this didnt matter as I soon ordered some new SPD pedals. Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase and is excellent value for money. I am now looking to forward to many exciting outings with the CTC. For someone wanting a decent quality bike that has the looks and performance, this is the bike for you. If you are into the sprints and long trials I would suggest going the extra mile and buying the Basso Laguna 105 2011 simply because its lighter. 04 July 2012

Looks the part! I wanted a new bike, and cannot justify spending a fortune so I opted for this Basso, even though its an "entry level" machine it ticks lots of boxes, I have a thing about Shimano, dont ask me why so to get some Campag thrown in is great, change the wheels for something a bit racier and of you go... Comfortable and great to look at, the frame looks like a carbon model, no ugly welds and the rest is all up to the job. No teething problems so Wiggle have don a good job. even the saddle looks too nice to sit on. 20 June 2012

bought to replace a specialized secteur sport as a training bike and in comparison it is very nimble and comfortable for its more aggressive geometry, even if the frame does transmit more of the bumps and buzz. I have been very happy with the bike so far, it came well set up from wiggle and has run smoothly ever since. I found the fit excellent and took guidance from the Basso size chart. The microtech (rebranded miche) componants look good and seem to be of good quality and the campy groupset is as smooth as the tiagra I've been used to. also as a 10 speed it gives easy part by part upgrades to centaur. I didn't think the the Basso/san marco saddle looked amazing but it has been comfortable on rides up to 50 miles. the wheels supplied are miche reflex, just as in the description but without the rebranding. they have bladed spokes and roll pretty solid. 15 June 2012

superb bike I wanted a first road bike for under £700, and this fitted the bill having been reduced as account of being last years model. The wheels, frame, forks, brakes, handlebars and saddle are all superb quality. I did experience some gripes with the gears initially but now they have some miles on them the cables have settled in, and all the components are operating smoothly, and I expect them to be long lasting. I have no other real problems with this product, it is a high quality product, and I am very glad I bought it. 10 June 2012

This doesn't have rack eyelets for a traditional rear rack. You could fit a post mounted rack if required.

No, just a pair of flatties. You can buy a pair of reasonable pedals (road) which come with cleats. I did think about a cheap pair which would take my Mtb shoes but ended up getting some road shoes as well which does make a difference when ridding. :)

It comes with functional but very basic pedals (more suited to a kids bike). You will need to buy your own pedals if you are serious in any way about road riding.

According to the Basso size chart a 60cm frame should fit me. However, your order page only has a 58cm and 61cm frames listed. Is the 61cm a typo?

Can i buy just the frame? I've been searcing for a bike high and low for less than £1000. Im not a fan of Campags lowest groupset so i could take it to a bike shop and build using different componants. Alternitivley, can you recomend any bikes?
