Overshoes are essential for winter riding, they protect both your feet and your expensive cycling shoes from the winter weather. They can be made from a variety of materials, for example Lycra, Neoprene, Windtex or GoreTex are common place, each of these materials has different properties to suit the weather you are riding in. Windtex and Neoprene materials are ideal for cold dry days or for keeping your foot warm but not dry, whereas Goretex and other waterproof materials will help reduce the amount of water reaching your skin. It can be hard to keep your feet 100% dry so priority is always warmth, so try to choose a warm and windproof overshoe for best results on colder days. It’s advisable to wear a waterproof sock inside your shoes, Sealskinz make a very popular range, which add an additional barrier to minimise water ingress. Other important features on a pair of quality overshoes are reflective logo’s/details, heel holes for when putting your foot down at a junctions, pre-cut cleat holes and a stretchy material for a close fit over your shoes.

Magazine reviews for BBB ArcticDuty Shoe Cover
Review from Cycling Weekly
Serious weather needs serious protection and from the moment you pull these BBB overshoes on, you can feel the warmth.
They are undoubtedly bulky, but the trade off is weather resistance. Toughened toe and heel bumpers mean they've barely been scratched despite the rigours of a photoshoot and early morning testing with added traffic stops.
Extra thick toe and heel layers simply add more protection.
Glued and taped seams prevent water getting access up top and despite the reasonably large underside openings, I've yet to experience cold feet while wearing them. You can't put a price on that.
