Black Series MTB Quick Releases weigh in at an astounding 40 grams a pair by utilizing a combination of Titanium axles and Aluminium clamping parts. Manufactured using the highest quality materials, assembled to the most accurate tolerances.
The anodised end cap and cam are manufactured in different grade alloys to limit wear and create a more durable design with a higher clamping force, while the elegant lever and end nut are CNC machined to reduce maximum weight while maintaining strength. Based on a race proven design created nearly 20 years ago, Black Series wheel quick releases offer pure engineering and timeless style. Proven in World Championship competition. Hand made in Germany by Tune.
Quick release skewers are rods which are threaded at one end, with a cam assembly on the other. This combines to make a lever operated cam system. The quick release mechanism was invented in 1927 by Tullio Campagnolo, who was an Italian bicycle racer. He was frustrated when he needed to repair a flat tyre during a race, the weather had turned cold, and his hands were numb, so he could not operate the wingnuts which retained the wheel. He had been well-placed prior to the puncture, but lost valuable time, so decided to develop a quick release skewer system which enables simple wheel removal in seconds.
