This is indeed a superlight frame, so much so that passersby in the office conducting the lift it up and put it down test wouldnt believe the Hybrid Pro was actually constructed from triple-butted alloy. But it is, engineered into this aggressively speed obsessed form, with tapered steerer, BB30 bottom brake, carbon fork and monster chainstays. The result is a lightning rod of a hybrid that feels almost as stiff, responsive and agile as a road bike. Driven by a bag of components including a compact FSA Energy 50/34T chainset, Shimano cassette, Microshift front derailleur and SRAM Rival rear mech, shifting however is slick and reliable and the SRAM double tap thumb shifters are a joy to use once you become accustomed to them. The Avid Elixir disc brakes and levers provide more than enough punch to halt the Boardman without being overly snappy, which is a good job as this bike implores at every turn to put the hammer down.

In conclusion...

There really are so many things to admire about this bike, such as the overall build quality, the ingenuity and finish of the smooth welded aluminium frame, the standard of the components and of course the ride feel that highlighting specific kit seems totally redundant.

The Boardman Hybrid Pro is a great little package and, barring the wheels, it's hard to fault it for what it is. I'm still not convinced a hybrid is really for me, but it you must have one you won't go far wrong with this top-of-the-range option. And it just falls within the Cycle to work scheme!
