About Leisure Saddles
Leisure bike saddles are designed with comfort over weight in mind, this means they may have more padding than a svelte racing saddle and may weigh a few grams more, but should provide a higher level of comfort for the leisure rider. A leisure saddle is usually suitable for someone who rides for up to an hour at a time, if you ride over this length of time a performance saddle may be a better choice. The reason for this is that a leisure saddle is often wider and provides a larger seating area, this causes the legs to be placed further apart than when using a racing saddle, and this can become less comfortable than a more racy saddle over longer distances.
About the Brooks England brand
The Brooks bike saddle story started way back in 1865, a young man of just 19 years of age was said to have bought 'one of those new-fangled velocipedes' which was fitted with a wooden saddle, this proved excruciating. As luck would have it his father made leather saddles for horses, so the young man known as John Boultbee Brooks set to work in his fathers workshop designing and developing a comfortable saddle from leather.
The rest they say is history....
Brooks experience in saddle making goes right back to the beginning - back to the period of solid tyres - and is unequalled by any other house in the world.
That said, they recognise the fact that they cannot rely on their past history alone, so they still build saddles with the same attitude as when they started, 'quality first', both in materials and manufacture. The testament to this is that there are still saddles in active use today, made many many years ago.

Magazine reviews for Brooks England Swift Titanium Saddle
Review from Cycling Plus
When it comes to classic bike styling, nothing says it more than a Brooks saddle. having been cutting and playing with leather since 1866, these guys know how to make a classy perch. At home on a classic rod-brake sit-up-and-beg or a top-notch racer, nothing quite compares. The swift is more than jsut a classic saddle though, taking on a modern twist with sleek titanium rails helping to keep the weight down. at 392g, it's certainly not for weight weenies but it comes in lighter than Brook's more econamical saddles. At 152mm wide and 280mm it;s certainly on the racey side with its chamfered sides.
Unlike other uber-lightweight saddles, sitting on the Brooks felt special. It's like riding a slice of cycling history. The leather is stretched and shaped for a comfy ride and this will only get ebtter with time. It'll take some blood sweat and miles - and probably years - to shape perfectly to your behind, but it'll be worth it. The leather will stretch over time so you might need to take up the slack with teh tension adjustment underneath. If you have a special bike, whatever genre, this could be the perfect finishing touch.
In conclusion...
Totally classy retro-styled saddle with a modern twist

Review from What MTB
It's slightly unnerving to lower your backside onto a pristine example of 140 years of saddle making experience, especially when it looks like a work of art that would be equally at home on your wall. The seat consists of developed-for-the-purpose leather that's moulded to shape and stretched along the titanium frame. There's a tension attachment under the nose that you tighten as the seat slackens with wear, which you can adjust to the best feel for you. And this is about as individual a fit as you can get, because it's your sweat that actually gets into and softens the leather as you ride that completely personalises a Brooks saddle in a way that no other can. It mead it difficult to test it over the time that we had available(that is, not several years) so the score reflects our demand for some degree of short-medium term comfort, but every Brooks veteran we asked spoke in reverential tones about the comfort it eventually affords - but we'd be tempted to keep this saddle for our nurtured custom build or a bike of extraordinary emotional significance.
In conclusion...
Once in a lifetime purchase that gives you personalised comfort.
