Brooks PureGrit Shoes AW12 2.8 5 4 4

Good shoe I wanted to buy a new shoe that is good on softer surfaces. I found the Brooks Pure Grit to be a possible match. I already own some Brooks Pure Cadence shoes, but they are best suited to harder surfaces. So without even trying the Pure Grit in a physical shop first I bought a pair. They seem a bit narrow to me even though I bought the same size as the Pure Cadence. I have still to run some more to get them suited for me, but the first impression with the width is not a problem anymore it seems after having run in them 3 times now. I still have to try them for my intended purpose - running in forest om mixed ground where I trust the Grit shoes will have a better grip then the Cadence. All in all I am pleased - and it's always nice with some new colorful shoes ;-) 23 February 2013

comfy lightweight shoe shame about the grip These shoes are great for nice dry summer trails! But the grip is poor and they don't cope well in wet or slightly muddy conditions at all! I think this has been addressed on the new version but I haven't yet tried them. The poor grip didnt stop me picking up a second pair although I only really use them for dry conditions when I need a shoe for both road and trail. If you are looking for a trail only shoe there are better ones out there, have a look at the Merrell Mix Master! They are lightweight and comfy enough to wear for marathons and ultras and better value for money now the second version is out! My first pair only lasted about 250 miles before the upper started to go (there was a crease that developed in the forfoot and caused a hot spot), but I know other people who have got 3 times that out of theirs! 19 February 2013

Slippy soles Good neutral shoe, Not minamilist really as its very cushioned so you will easily heel strike in them and not notice... The shape of the shoe is great, very roomy toe box. The big let down is the traction, the soles are way too slippy, on a wet stone surface for example you will be on ice skates. 19 February 2013

Good upper, but no grip makes it unusable. The upper is great, fit is good and the sole flexes well so all good so far. However the grip has to be the worst I have had of any running shoe I've ever owned. So bad that in 4 runs I've been planted on my rear twice. Don't remember ever falling over like that before in any trainers. The first time I worn them out I put it down to them being new and figured they might get better after a bit more wear but I've done about 45k in them and they are just terrible. Stay away. My Kinvara 2's were miles better on and off road even though they fell apart fairly quickly. Doubt I'll wear them again. 21 December 2012
