You can personalise your preferred settings with 33 options of display information. Brytonsport.com provides you a cyclist's playground where you can share cycling and training results, join teams for games or competitions and explore new horizons.

With a high sensitivity GPS, barometer and thermometer the Rider 50 shows location, direction, speed, average speed, distance and slope. Both altitude climbed and descended are options together with temperature, calories, heart rate and cadence.

The screen is a transflective TFT display which means that regardless of the light conditions, even in sunlight, the screen information can always be read. This high definition colour screen displays the pre-load maps beautifully(UK maps only, European mapping not in HD)and routes can be planned online and downloaded to follow on the road/track. Emphasis has been placed on ease of use for non-techy riders; just follow the simple instructions through the Bryton website.

Performance can be monitored and shared. Create a prolfile on the www.brytonsports.com website and upload training data for analysis. Use virtual training partner (My Buddy) and share data wirelessly (Knock Knock) with other Rider 50 users.

The Rider 50T comes complete with a Heart Rate Monitor Belt and Cadence Sensor, but these can be bought seperately to upgrade the Rider 50 GPS Cycle Computer.

About GPS Cycle Computers

GPS receivers are now made waterproof, lightweight and small enough to fit on a bike easily. There are 2 basic choices to take on your bike: a GPS unit designed primarily for navigation with a dedicated bike mount, particularly suitable for cycle touring and finding your way in unfamiliar territory, like the Garmin eTrex Vista Cx; or a dedicated bike computer that uses GPS to track your training routes and provide detailed analysis of your workout like the Edge 305, with more limited navigation capabilities. Most units come with only very basic maps installed and you may need to purchase more detailed maps for your area to be loaded onto the unit for navigation.

All electrical goods sold on wiggle that come with a mains power supply are supplied with a UK plug. good features but the set up can be frustrating Used it for a few weeks now, but haven't tested all the featrures. The instructions leave something to be desired especially for the optional extras eg. Cadence sensor. Still haven't got it working right. Web site not particular intuitive but when you get into it, it seems to do what it says. 19 February 2013

Good on the whole I've had my Bryton 50T for a couple of months now & have used most of the features on it. Previously I have been using an Android phone with either strava or runkeeper to record rides & had a regular cycle computer to give me cadence/speed/distance info. The unit itself works well, is easy to use, menus/screens are easy to navigate...the initial setup is very quick & easy, much better than the other normal cycle computers that i've had in the past. Switching between screens can at times be a little laggy, but nothing major, just don't go pressing buttons repeatedly as it'll scroll through loads of screens after the lag clears. When riding it finds GPS signal quickly & as yet it hasn't lost signal when riding - unlike my Android phone used to on a regular basis. Following planned routed works well, although I wish you could set up different beep combinations for warnings of route markers & approached junctions. You just get a double beep to warn you about everything whether its a waypoint, junction, heart rate warning etc etc. I'm using the Bryton Bridge software on a Windows 8 Laptop which seems to work fine....the software is basically a single window that allows you to delete rides from the unit, update the unit software, update the Bryton Bridge software & then allow the Bryton website to talk to the unit when its plugged into your computer. The website is a little slow & clunky at times...mainly due to an overseas server - hopefully they'll setup up a UK/European server sometime soon which will greatly improve things. Finding your way around the website is pretty straight forward, although some of the terms used & the way that pages are structured aren't as refined as they could be....but it all works. Route planning works very well & is possibly better to use than the other options i've tried in the past (Endomondo, Runkeeper & Strava)...full marks here. The page that shows your data from a recorded ride is also very good - possibly the most refined page on the website that contains a lot more info that the competition...although the Calories burned figures look a little iffy at the moment. Overall, i'm very happy with the 50T, it works well & the sensors seem very reliable thus far. The website could do with a bit more work - I believe that they are working on improvements....we'll have to play a bit of a waiting game to see what they turn it into. Its still early days for Bryton & they do have a little way to go still...but the current setup works well & is well worth every penny. 12 February 2013

Great unit at a great price This unit was on offer and then an extra 12% off which made it a fraction over £200. I was sold after the review in cycling plus and having received the unit - I can completely agree with everything they said. The unit is neat, compact and very sturdy. It is much easier to use whilst riding than the competing Garmin 800. The satellite fix is quick and gives accurate readings and you can combine a lot of data in various pages including elevation, my buddy and mapping screen. I would thoroughly recommend this product. It will revolutionise my riding and training. 28 December 2012

Great device, website ropey The Rider 50 unit looks and feels like a quality piece of kit. The mount is reasonably stable, the GPS is accurate and quick and the display is clear. The device feels 'tough' and all the buttons can be used with gloved hands. It will record all the data you need and all the displays are fully customisable. To me it seems much better value than the equivalent Garmin. Be warned though, the supplied instructions are laughably inadequate given all its functions (you can download full PDF instructions from the Bryton site, but even these are lacking somewhat). The Bryton Bridge website is also not the most user friendly and I have had technical issues syncing the device to my mac. Overall it's a good buy but be prepared to work your way around the failings of the site and instructions. 27 December 2012

When I ordered this product I found that it only came with Cadence and heart rate not speed. I had to order separately a dual speed/ Cadence sensor which sits near the rear wheel. Or you can buy separate speed sensor.
Just something to watch for as most computers come with speed sensor as standard.

On the flap on my box is a sticker that says a 2GB micro SD card with preloaded UK HD street map is in the CD sleeve. None was there. Is this correct?

The statement that the SD card is in the CD sleeve is correct. The fact that it was not in there is not correct. The card is contained in a tiny fluorescent-green envelope slid into the CD sleeve. It could drop out easily, or maybe the card is already installed.

I comes with a cadence sensor and an HRM. However, the cadence sensor can only do speed or cadence not both at the same time. However, the GPS is good enough that you don't need a speed sensor.

Having now bought one, I can answer my own question. As others answered it only comes with European maps.
A note though, you can not use open street maps to download maps, only the supplied DVD works.
The local maps need to be bought on DVD from a local supplier.

The mapping that comes with the Bryton products is regional. This means that the mapping supplied for Wiggle is the european mapping. You would need to have access to Navtecs range of maps to purchase mapping for Canada.

I can confirm that if you are using a speed and cadence sensor that is mounted to the rear wheel the unit will show the speed of the rear wheel on the trainer. I can confirm that the unit will support a power meter if you already have one. I hope this helps.
