About Seat Posts
A good quality seat post will save weight and hold your saddle securely. Seatposts are made in various materials, alloy and carbon being the two most common, alloy posts are lightweight, durable and cost efficient, while carbon posts are the popular choice for top end machines. Seat posts vary in where they hold the saddle relative to their own centre line so make sure you have enough adjustment on your saddle rails to allow for this or you could end up with your saddle too far forwards. A seat post needs to fit your frame exactly and are measured by as little as 0.2mm. When choosing a new one, either read off the measurement from your old seat post or measure it carefully with a vernier calliper. Make sure you lubricate the frame (unless they're carbon fibre) before insertion or you'll struggle to get it out again.
About the Cane Creek brand
Cane Creek components have been ridden to numerous wins in world-class events. Professional racing teams that have used Cane Creek components include: Mountain Bike Racing,3D Racing, DEVO, Haro, Honda/Turner, Michal Prokop/Author Racing, Rocky Mountain, Subaru/Fisher, Trek/Volkswagen. Cane Creek started in 1995. Their first product line had brakes, headsets, hubs, and shocks. Their original air-shock design gradually won over a suspension universe that was in thrall to coil shocks. While they have continued to assert their leadership all their product categories, they have expanded into other areas that can benefit from a dose of their "technology that makes sense." In 1999 they acquired the Thudbuster suspension seat post and have since upgraded its patented design to provide what has been called the "ultimate upgrade for hardtails."

Magazine reviews for Cane Creek Thudbuster ST Seat Post
Review from Bikeradar
The movement of this 476g, short-travel suspension seatpost isn't really noticeable, but over longer distances improvement in comfort more than makes up for the 200g weight penalty.
The Thudbuster ST is a 1.3in-travel (33mm) incarnation of Cane Creek's long-serving 3in travel post, aimed more at road and cross-country use. It shares the parallelogram linkage (albeit in a smaller form) and sports a square elastomer to handle spring and damping duties.
Your first thought on fitting will be to wonder whether it's working at all; the down-and-back action is less intrusive than a standard suspension post.
But while the effect is subtle, it's definitely there. You can pump your tyres up rock solid for better rolling and still feel like you've got 50psi on the back.
The blue medium elastomer supplied seemed to suit a 105kg rider for road riding, so we're not sure who the extra firm purple one is aimed at, but if you're lighter then may want to swap the blue for the softer grey.
In conclusion...
Well engineered comfort aid for longer or bumpier rides
Rating: 4/5

What elastomer comes stock with this? I'm guessing a medium (140-215lbs) would that be correct?
Thanks,
Jas
