Expensive pretty easy to set up providing you READ the instructions, i bought it as was told it would not be interfered with by a top end led light boing a digital computer, it failed, stopped showing speed as soon as the light was turned on, just like almost all computers 11 March 2012

Excellent for mountain biking I've been using the AT100, its predecessor, for 14 years and about 63000 km (yes!) with great satisfaction, so I had a good opinion on Cateye computers and naturally purchased this AT200W. I'm not disappointed. It's very easy to fit on the bike. Operation, with the SSE button, is straightforward (although I couldn't figured out what the acronym 'SSE' means!), even on bumpy trails. Altitude and temperature are accurate (it's easy to reset altitude to a reference value, the slope indication is useful). No issue with wireless operation or under rain. It's convenient that it can measure two distances (i.e. 'dst' total for the day and 'dst2' which can be reset independently at waypoints). So all in all, in my opinion an excellent choice for the MTBer 29 January 2012

Very good computer This is my first cycling computer for my giant Talon 1. I was looking for something that would give me some cool new functions as well as the usual speed and distance measurements. The Cateye Adventure did not disappoint. I'm still trying to figure out how everything works (especially the altimeter which i'm not one hundred percent convinced with) but everything else seems to work great. The temperature and slope readings are useful and having a couple of different odometers is a good touch. Swapping between displays is easy (just push anywhere on the bottome of the device) and the displays are all easy to read. Setting up was fairly easy though i had a few problems trying to get a signal to the computer from the reader and magnet. The magnet attaches to the wheel spokes and passes through the sensor zone on a reader attached to the fork. I had a little trouble getting the magnet and reader close enough together because of the clearance between the fork and wheel (mountain bike). Overall then a very good buy and well worth the money. Although slighlty flawed here and there the computer offers some cool features that will have all your friends in awe. Enjoy your riding! 14 October 2011

Does what it says I chose to go down the "cycle-computer-with-altimeter" route rather than entry level GPS for various practical reasons, the main ones being economy, and battery life.I cycle a lot in mountainous regions, and find the altimeter works well enough especially in settled weather. It needs frequent resetting but that's normal for this type, and the finishing altitude given isn't always the same as the starting one.But if you accept it's limitations it's a useful tool which helps both with mental encouragement and energy management on long routes.The inclinometer seems to me to be pretty accurate; it will take a lapse of a few metres to give a reading and is very reactive to change of angle at low speeds, giving what looks like variable readings;but I haven't found this a problem; one quickly learns to assess percentage by perceived effort. It's easy to set up and the other functions all work well. It's nice to have a ride total ascent, and a cumulative ascent.I might have chosen the white version in retrospect - it's a small black gadget which is difficult to find when it's off the bike and in a bag. 12 October 2011

Height/Speed/Distance Settings

Does this unit allow you to set up distance and speed in Miles & MPH, but altitude in Metres and temperature in degrees C?

Answer:

The manual for this computer shows that the distance/speed and the temperature measurements can be changed from metric to imperial, the altitude measurement can't be changed.

I have one of these, which does everything it is supposed to do, but seems a little flimsy, and also very small and easy to drop or lose. Wouldn't be sure of it's viability for VTT.
I also have a VDO MC 1.0 on my other bike which is chunkier and easier to get hold of, and seems more robust.I think it's water resistant enough. Just make sure its well bedded into it's holder.
Both work well for altimeter and slope percentage, and battery life is very long.Just remember barometric altimeters need frequent recalibration - not too difficult on either.
