Whether a victory in the Spring Classics or winning atop L’Alpe D’Huez in the Tour de France, the M10 frame has proven to be a winning design. The AC-R brings this same penchant for winning in an affordable package, with similar efficiency for the steepest climbs and comfort for the roughest roads. The AC-R brings Colnago’s nearly 30 years of carbon expertise to the masses with a ride quality that is uniquely Colnago. The same tuned geometry and quality manufacturing that bring Colnago riders across the finish lines of professional races worldwide can be found in the AC-R.
With 10 speed shifting and only a minor weight penalty over its more expensive siblings, the 105 5700 offers great feel and performance.
The 105 shifters have the same dual control setup and cable routing as the top end groupsets. Shifting is precise and consistent, right the way through the 10 speed cassette.
With its two piece hollow axle design, the Hollowtech II chainset is both lightweight and stiff. Mounting the large diameter bearings outboard of the bottom bracket shell also provides increased stiffness and bearing life.
Dual pivot brake callipers provide excellent braking power, with angle adjustable pads to ensure perfect pad alignment. A quick release lever aids installation and removal of wheels, for transportation or puncture repairs.
A 24mm rim profile and sealed bearing hubs make the R500 a really durable wheelset, suitable for riding in any conditions. Built with stainless spokes all round. 20 at the front and 24 at the rear to keep the weight down.
Vitoria Rubino Pro folding tyres are light weight and offer excellent puncture protection. With a long life tread compound and 150 tpi case, they are both durable and fast rolling.
The finishing kit on this special edition is Colnago's own branded equipment with an HB50 compact handlebar and the angle adjustable ST02 stem. With the use of an angled shim and top cap, the ST02 stem allows you to adjust your handlebar height between an upright position, for endurance riding and a lower more performance position, for shorter faster rides.
A Selle Italia X1 saddle with FEC alloy rails and embossed Colnago logo is the perfect finishing touch. Handmade in Italy, the quality and finish on Selle Italia saddles is exceptional.

About the Colnago brand
Ernesto Colnago was born in Cambiago, a small rural village twenty kilometers east of Milano on February 9, 1932. Ernesto was just 13 years old, but to start work, he had to be at least 14. He changed the date on his working papers and so was hired as an assistant welder. It was 1954 when Colnago went out on his own in a tiny little workshop, his bicycles have been used by more than 100 professional team, 2,500 professional racers, who have won more than 7,500 wins worldwide. Champion riders of the caliber of Fiorenzo Magni, Gastone Nencini, Eddy Merckx, Giuseppe Saronni, Gianni Motta, Gibì Baronchelli, Michele Dancelli, Gianni Bugno, Oscar Freire, Johan Museeuw, Tony Rominger, Pavel Tonkov, Yaroslaw Popovych, Erik Zabel e Alessandro Petacchi, and many others, have ridden Colnago Bicycles to victory. As the great researcher and innovator he is, Colnago created the first frameset in carbon fibre in collaboration with Ferrari Engineering in 1986. The next year, the innovative straight-blade “Precisa” was created. In 1989, two years later, the dramatic Colnago “C35” emerged, an innovative monocoque carbon fibre frame in road racing & mountain bike versions. 1994 was a hallmark year when Colnago introduced the ground-breaking “C40” carbon fibre frameset for his 40th anniversary and still a reference point today. No other frame has won as much as the Colnago C40: 5X Paris-Roubaix and many World Championships. In 2000 another remarkable model emerged from Colnago’s atelier: the limited edition CF1, created in collaboration with Ferrari that quickly became a major success. Next was the CF2 dual-suspension mountain bike in 2002. After ten years of success in every segment, Ernesto Colnago launched the “C50” in 2003. It was the Fiftieth Anniversary of his company, a brand that has become synonymous with the best bicycles the world over, synonymous with the best products Made in Italy. This new carbon fibre composite frame quickly found success in both the competition and sales arena. And for 2004, for the official anniversary of Colnago, a special collectors item bicycle was created, the “50th Anniversary”. Ernesto Colnago continues to dream about and create bicycles appreciated by riders passionate about cycling all over the world. Don’t ask Colnago which of his bicycles is the best: his answer is always the same. “I’ve made a lot of bicycles, but the most beautiful is the one that is yet to come.” For more info on Colnago please feel free to view Bike Radar's article on them.
The size chart below will get you on the right size bike. Experienced riders may also wish to refer to the geometry chart for more detail.
Getting the Right Fit
At Wiggle we measure each of our bikes to build accurate size charts for our customers. Our qualified team of mechanics then individually check each order, against measurements supplied by you, to ensure the size chosen is correct. Another reason you can have complete confidence when buying a bike from Wiggle!
If you are on the change over between sizes both options will fit. Racers and experienced riders would usually select a smaller size as this offers quicker handing. A larger bike offers more stability and is more suited to new and intermediate riders.

Magazine reviews for Colnago AC-R 105 Special Edition 2014
Review from Bikeradar
Colnago bikes, whatever their price, are defined by their long-standing geometry, and that gives the bikes a beautifully balanced ride. The straight-legged, sharp-angled fork makes for a swift response without dipping into twitchy nervousness. The result, when married to a taut-feeling rear end, is a bike that has stability at its core. This gave us huge amounts of confidence, making us push the Colnago that bit harder on descents and to get out of the saddle to sprint as often as we could.
AC-R is the best base model bike Colnago has ever produced, and if you've always wanted to own a Colnago but couldn't afford the ticket price, the AC-R might be just what you've been looking for.
