Continental's Vectran and Black Chili technologies have been radically applied to this uncompromising race tyre set, specifically developed for the front and rear wheels of race bikes.
The new Grand Prix Attack benefits from its special Black Chili version that gives the streamlined 22mm front tyre more grip with lower rolling resistance, compared to the previous GP Attack tyre.
The sticky compound on the front tyre provides strong adhesion in wet and dry conditions. It is designed as an all season racing tyre even for those rainy Spring & Autum circuit races. Its dimension of 22mm provides secure grip, while reducing wind resistance and weight. It features a single anti-puncture layer under the tread to keep weight low but still give excellent protection.
The new Grand Prix Force is a powerful rear wheel specialist and with its 24mm section combined with a fast Black Chili compound, it gives excellent traction and road handling thats second to none.
On the back you'll want a strong tyre to force your power through to the road. A 24mm casing-with good puncture protection, a long lasting tread and a high TPI casing provides a supple and stable ride that you'd expect from Continental.
With two puncture protection layers under the tread- necessary for the added stresses applied to the rear wheel compared to the front. The GP-Force has a long lasting tread compound that will cover thousands of competition miles without sacrificing traction and cornering ability.
To satisfy the demands of the serious racer. When paired up with the GP-Attack, this makes the best application-specific racing tyre combination.
Vectran Breaker: The innovation in puncture protection. Made from melted Vectra Liquid Crystal Polymer, Vectran is the only LCP fibre in the world, made using a spinning process Vectran is lightweight, extremely durable, resistant to water is five times stronger than steel. Conti tyres which include one or sometimes two layers of Vectran under the tread are some of the toughest and lightweight bicycle tyres available
About Road Race Tyres
These tyres are for racing style bikes that use clincher/hooked rims, these are the most common fitment and hook onto the rim and require an inner tube. There is a wide choice of tyres within this category and the right choice is important. Lighter tyres will accelerate quickly, but will be more prone to punctures so getting a balance is extremely important. If you require a tyre for all round use look for something with puncture protection, an average TPI(Threads Per Inch) and average weight. If you require a fast tyre and speed is the only thing that matters look for a low weight folding tyre with high TPI. If durability is your priority and speed is not so important look towards the puncture resistant tyres and consider going for a wider tyre, these will be less prone to punctures and offer a bit more comfort. For wet road conditions a triple compound or winter tyre is a good choice, these use a softer compound on the cornering surface to maximise grip.
About the Continental brand
More than 100 years experience in the development and production of bicycle tyres has made Continental a unique company within the industry. Continental is the only German bicycle tyre manufacturer to produce its tyres in Germany. Knowing this serves as a mighty incentive to our engineers and everyone else involved in the manufacturing process to constantly strive for further innovations. In our technology and development center in Korbach, we are constantly developing new revolutionary technologies such as the unbeatable Black Chili Compound and the ultimate Vectran™ Breaker anti-puncture technology, both used at the top end of race sport. These technologies demand sophisticated processes to ensure our legendary end-product quality, and these innovations as well as the new “ProTection” and ”RaceSport” technology for MTB tyres, can only be manufactured in our factory in Germany – “Handmade in Germany”. In order to offer the best tyre for any application, we rely equally on dialogue with our professional racers, hobby cyclists and everyday bike riders. This results not only in high-end products for top sports applications such as the new Podium TT or the revolutionary downhill tyre “Der Kaiser”, but also tyres for everyday use like the new innovative combination EcoContact/EcoContact Plus as a companion to the latest e-bike trend. As a global player, Continental also maintains high-tech production facilities outside of Germany, where Continental tyres are produced for you with an equal degree of care and dedication. One thing all Continental bicycle tyres have in common is that they are developed in the technology center in Korbach, Germany, where they also undergo strict inspection. Our heart and soul is behind the phrase “Handmade in Germany”, with all of its products and technologies.

Magazine reviews for Continental Grand Prix Attack/Force Road Tyre Twin Pack
Review from Bikeradar
Continental's new Black Chilli tread compound gives a a real boost to performance for Conti's well-established 24mm rear/22mm front tyre combo.
The rubber looks and feels nothing like previous Conti tyres. At the same in?ation pressure as prior incarnations, the Black Chili compound versions roll better, giving the bike a lively and quick feeling, and grip is greatly improved straight out of the packaging.
Long gone is the slightly squeaky and somewhat nervous handling, instead this is replaced by surefooted grip - and lots of it.
So far the wear rate seems on a par with comparable tyres. We'll keep piling the miles on them, partly because they're damn good and we don't want to take them off the bike, and also to see how they fair until they wear out.
In conclusion...
A shed-load of grip at no expense to rolling resistance
Rating: 9/10
Review from road.cc
So what's so special about these tyres?
For one the front (Attack) is quite different to the rear (Force) in this combo. It is narrower, lighter and has a different tread pattern. The idea behind this is that the driving forces are transmitted through the rear tyre, therefore it makes sense to design is especially for this. It has been beefed up a little and also features extra puncture protection over the front, which makes sense. The front, at 22mm, is narrower than the rear to aid aerodynamics. Its tread pattern is designed to optimise cornering and braking as opposed to transmit forward force, which is the rear's specialism.
Rear tyres tend to wear out before front ones, so it's nice to see a rear tyre that's designed to last longer, however this does mean that you can't rotate the front tyre to the rear when the rear inevitably wears out first, as is my usual strategy to maximise tyre life.
Both tyres use Continental's 'black chilli' compound. According to the manufacturer, it uses 'nano' sized soot particles with surface properties optimised for bicycle tyres. They enable the tyre tread to deform around objects more quickly, improving grip; they also form a tighter bond improving strength and longevity. Still according to Conti, compared to the compound they previously used, Black Chilli offers 26% lower rolling resistance, 30% increase in adhesion quality and 5% increase in tread life.
That all sounds good in theory, but what are they like in practice? I can't comment on percentages, but their grip is just awesome. I'm not the world's gutsiest descender, but these inspire confidence, especially in the wet. No need to slow down, just point and lean. The grip is not just good for cornering, it helps with acceleration and stopping as well. All of this makes for a tyre that feels very fast. At 190 gr and 210 gr for front and rear respectively, they're pretty light too.
I expected them to wear quicker than normal, as in my experience grippier tyres wear faster. I must admit that I've been pleasantly surprised this far and would expect to get at least 2000 miles out of these, that is if I can avoid big cuts or damage to the sidewalls.
I love riding these, they look good on the bike and they were easy to install. I'm not sure I buy into the necessity for a different design front and rear, but they do work very very well.
In conclusion...
Light, fast and incredibly grippy racing tyre
