To get the most from this base layer - especially during hot summer months - is it best to wear it underneath or over bib shorts? Or doesn't it matter?

Answer:
Base layer should be worn as the first layer you put on. This has the added benefit of keeping you warm in the cooler months and cooler in the warmer months. This is because it has a whicking effect that draws moisture from your body and keeps you dry.
I normally wear base layer, bib shorts and jersey in that order.

I'd wear it over the bib as it would probably be just a little too bulky to go underneath and you'd want it so that it could 'breathe'

I wear under my bibs. I thought it would help on the chafing of the bib straps and it is quite long and did not want it to show out the bottom of my jersey.

Hi,
Are base layers meant to be tight fitting as in sticking close to skin like compression gear?
Cos my chest is 103cm.
Thanks.

Answer:
yes it is meant to be like a second skin/compression gear. if it's looser, it would lose its efficacy in being a base layer (wicking sweat away, cooling you down, etc).

In my opinion they should be tight-fitting but maybe not as tight-fitting as a compression layer. Mine have a little bit of 'give' but doesn't give me any form of discomfort.

they should be tight fitting. they are not compression tops so they won't be as tight but definitely go for a smaller size than usual as they are very stretchy.

Hi,
Yes, they should pretty tight as they are to go under your jersey. It helps to wick moisture away from the body.

Hi, I Don't recommend this article to be too tight as it is not a compression layer so get one that is big enough to fit really comfortably. They're pretty stretching and forgiving anyway.

Answer:
Yes, it should be very close fitting, although it won't feel the same as compression gear. I'm a 95cm chest and initially got a size medium as I like a close fit but don't like stuff feeling restrictive. When I bought a second one I went to a size small, and it's spot on - their size chart is very accurate I think, which isn't the case with all brands. It's got loads of stretch I hardly know I'm wearing it.

If you're 102cm or 40" chest and a 32-34" waist then a medium will be fine. That's what I got and it's a good snug, but comfy fit.

Answer:
102cm converts to 40 inches in American "money", which would be a size Large. I would suggest you stay with the size Large, same as with the thermal top you have, using its fit for you as a guide as to how snug you desire the base layer to fit as well. HINT: Most manufacturer's sizing for respective garments is usually standard across their lines of clothing. Hope this helps...GDTuck

i'm 105cm and have the large size which is ok but felt i might try the medium size next time. But if buying the zero with sleeves i would suggest going up to a larger size, I have found this one to be a little to tight in the large size (both very good and well made)
