About Soft Bike Bags

Travelling by car with your bike is much easier if you can carry it on the outside. It doesn't take up any room inside the vehicle and you don't get mud and grease all over your upholstery. The simplest racks to use fit onto the rear of the car. Most grip the vehicle with plastic-coated hooks which must be positioned where they can spread the load. With all these racks, it's vital that the rack is firmly attached to the car and it's best if you then fix the bikes to the car itself, not just to the rack. If you have a tow-ball, use it! That way, the rack won't even touch the car and the whole setup is really secure. If your car has roof rails, you can mount cycle carriers to them. This works well but be careful when entering car parks with height barriers! Whichever type you choose, make sure you lock the bikes to the car if you want to keep them.

International Traveler This bag is excellent, I looked a long time for the best bag for international flying, most out there are just oversize, have everything in on on them but nothing practical. One thing I think people over look is the 'size' of the bag dimensions when flying international, This is the only one I can find that is under the size restrictions of most international carriers for bicycle boxs/bags, so if you want to pay huge oversize baggage fees buy something else, if you want a bag as large as this that can be checked in as one of your allocated pieces of luggage (via the oversize counter) this is the one. Most airlines now allocate you 1x 23kg bag plus carry on, this bag weighs exactly 10.1kg, so you can still fit in your bike (7-8kg), spare wheels (2kg) and pump (1kg) with weight to spare. This is a bargain with free postage. 03 August 2012

Great semi hard case bike bag This is a very functional bag. Wheels are big and sturdy. The additional handle make it easy to lift up at all angles. Can be easily placed at the back seat of a normal sedan car. 23 July 2012

Easy to use A good compomise in not being a hard case, but lots of structure in itself to protet your bike. The sideways roll is a bit weird at first but works well (except for narrow openings). 17 January 2012

the shipping invoice says 5kg, and the courier company weighed it in its box at 6kg so i think 5kg is about right. i have a specialized cyclocross bike and with nothing else in the bag it came to 21kg. just did my first trip to perth and back and it was good. no problems, but the shape is a bit awkward. Bag fits in a small hatchback (with fold down seats), but not in a large sedan (without fold downs).
build quality seams good with chunky zip, thick padding and heavy material, but no way to separate your wheels. i took off seatpost, wheels, pedals and handlebars.

I think it is stated at 10kg, so on the heavy side. Everything needed for a weekend triathong in there weighed 25kgs for me (including wetsuit).

this bag packed with a medium Scott genius 40 (with heavy 2.4 schwalbe tyres), shoes, helmet, and light kit youll tip the scales at 24.5 kilograms. but i have traveled the world with this bag and its bomb proof (aka baggage handler proof.) so the odd kilo of excess here and there, if you smile the airlines are usually fairly generous, youll never have to worry about your bike getting trashed.

I remove all three. Could probably get away with pedals, I'm 6'2" so no hope on fitting the seat in and almost certainly you'd need to remove handlebars

The box dimensions are 117 x 26 x 76cm which is to fit a bike with wheels removed, bars turned, saddle removed. If with your wheels removed your dual suspension bike doesn't fit within the dimensions above then unfortunately it will not fit.
