The dhb Hi Viz jacket features large reflective prints in all key areas to help improve the riders visibility to other road users in low light conditions. A large length of durable reflective fabric across the side torso, outer arm, collar bone and rear shoulder provides awesome reflectivity, that will stand up to dirt and grime for real winter conditions.
The fit of the jacket is derived from the dhb EQ2.5 with a little more space. This means the fit is engineered to fit comfortably in the riding position and accommodate a mid layer. The tail is long enough to cover the rear, with elasticated hem and silicone gripper to keep it in place. We have extended the front a couple of centimetres to provide a little more coverage for the layer underneath, when in the non-riding position (for that final walk in the rain to the office).
At the rear of the jacket is a permanent through-flow ventilation panel designed to allow warm air to pass from inside to the outside without rain getting in. A generous length breather pit zip under each arm allows the rider to ventilate the jacket, to remove excessive heat if things start to get a bit intense!
A full-length waterproof YKK zip with internal zip placket prevents driving rain from penetrating the 2.5 layer waterproof and breathable polyester fabric. The collar is close around the neck with brushed contact fabric to remove the chill and prevent drips from getting in. Cuffs can be adjusted using the Velcro fastener.
For storage there are commuter friendly pockets on the front and a more conventional rider pocket on the rear back panel.
We would describe this as a medium weight jacket, (not Ultralight like the dhb Minima S jacket, or storm weight like the dhb SYNC jacket). The number of features this jacket carries means that it will not pack into a jersey back pocket, but it will easily roll up (approx 30cm X 8cm diameter) to be neatly tucked into a back pack.
About Cycling Waterproof Jackets
Waterproof cycle jackets can improve your comfort levels on the bike considerably when the weather turns nasty. Factors such as wind resistance and high breathability are important if you will be riding at a high pace over a fair distance, along with wearing a good quality base or mid layer to help with wicking moisture away from your skin. Waterproof cycle jackets with hi tech fabrics such as GoreTex and eVent are well worth paying a little extra for, if you require high levels of breathability, this will improve protection, dryness and comfort on longer rides in poor conditions.
About the dhb brand
The dhb brand was first born in Hampshire, England. I'm looking through the descriptions of the Hi Viz jacket versus the Signal and am struggling to discern what the difference is between the two of them. They are both available in Hi Viz, both are 2.5 layer mid weight, both designed to accommodate a mid layer, both have same (or similar) features and both seem to be for similar intended use (cold/wet).
Is it basically just a mesh lines version of the Signal (and therefore a replacement for the older Amberley jacket) or is there something I've missed?
Cheers

The fitting of this new HiViz jacket is also slightly more cycle focused. The dhb Signal is boxy to accommodate 'non cycle specific' layers underneath (e.g. a casual jumper and shirt, not a sports fit microfleece or roubaix jersey!). The Hi Viz waterproof Cycle Jacket will work best worn over sports fit mid layers. If you need more space to accommodate casual/work wear, consider going a size up.

Layer 1 is the Polyester fabric layer. This fabric is the same weight as the dhb Minima S, the dhb Signal and the EQ2.5. (Weight will be similar to Altura night vision.)
Layer 2 is the waterproof breathable membrane - this is permanently laminated to the fabric at the fabric mill. This material is a variant of polyurethane (PU)
Layer 0.5 is very thin printed layer which sits on top of the PU. This layer adds some protection to the top surface layer of the membrane. It also adds decoration. The weight of this layer is negligible.
We would describe this as medium weight jacket which can be scrunched down and stuffed into a rucksack. The scrunched size could be approx 15cm diameter ball.

This jacket is a shell only jacket - more similar to the dhb Minima in terms of fabric and construction (but with more features) or comparable to the dhb Signal but with more reflective.
The jacket is suited to commuting in low light levels in real rain (not just light showers). This jacket scrunches down into a small ish volume. The cut allows space for warm mid layers underneath.
Are DHB going to consider making a XXXL of this. We're not all lean cyclists, but we are trying.
