Our best selling bib tights of 2008, they're back and better than ever in 2009. Made from a wind resistant Thermo-stretch brushed fabric, they are even more breathable with a stretchy, fleecy bib to help keep your kidneys warm. The double layer knee panelling provides added warmth for the legs. There's a handy comfort zip in the bib to make roadside pitstops that little bit easier and the SilverDry pad is a fast drying, anti-bacterial pad which keeps you feeling comfortable mile after mile. Ankle zippers with silicone grippers and reflective piping help ensure you're safely seen and the tights stay in place. The Merstons have proved phenomenally popular in product tests - and it's not hard to see why. They offer great value for money while still delivering comfort and performance.

About Cycling Tights
Winter cycling tights, also known as 'longs' are the best way to keep your leg muscles warm when the weather turns cold. Fleecy backed fabrics are comfortable next to your skin and help retain warmth, even when they're wet. Look for double-layer knees to keep your joints protected. Calf-length tights, also known as 'knickers' are great for days when it's not too cold but you want to keep your knees warm.

The dhb brand was first born in Hampshire, England. The founders – d, h and b decided they didn’t want to just sell bicycle gear but they also wanted to be involved with every aspect of it’s design and development. Review of 2008 model:
I have always felt the best tights are the ones that are barely noticeable when you ride, and the dhb Merston tights are some of the best examples of these I have ever used.
It is the Thermo-Stretched, fleece-backed Lycra that is mainly responsible for the success as it allows great freedom of movement, but is still really well insulated. Plenty of panelling is also a contributing factor to the ease of movement, and is particularly noticeable over the knees, where it is double-thickness but articulated in such a way as to cause no restriction or tension. In fact, considering the budget price of these tights, the amount of attention to detail is nothing short of amazing.
A CoolMax, silver lined antibacterial chamois insert, ankle zips and reflective detailing are all there too.
In conclusion...
I would rather buy two or three pairs of these this winter than a single pair of something more expensive.

Review of 2008 model:
There's a general rule that the more you pay, the better a product you get. But, as with the few dhb products tested recently, this is sometimes far from the case. The Merston bib tights are Wiggle's best selling tights, and priced at less than £40 they certainly raised a few eyebrows when they landed in the RCUK office.
And it's not like they've skimped in the padding department either. The Coolmax lined SilverDry chamois is surprisingly comfortable, given the low price tag, and they're easily as comfortable as bibs that cost three or four times as much. So you could conceivably buy several pairs of these instead of one really expensive pair.

Fantastic performance for the price, comfortable, warm. With bibs this staggeringly good at this price, it makes us wonder why you'd need to spend any more.

Slipping into the dhb's was a pleasant surprise. They felt as comfortable as the most expensive tights on test. At first the Coolmax, silver-lined antibacterial chamois, felt a little odd but after about 20 minutes in the saddle it settled in and we didn't notice anything further. The wind resistant Thermostretch fleece backed Lycra offered a warm and unrestricted ride due to clever panelling. Even in places where the material is double thickness, like around the knee, it's been articulated so there are no restrictions or pulling. This is one of the comfiest pairs of winter tights on test yet has the lowest price tag. We can't recommend them highly enough. And you'd be able to buy two pairs for the price of one of the top-end brand and save on constant washing.
In conclusion...
Without doubt the best value winter tight available.
