If you are familiar with the dhb footwear range then you will understand the kind of shoe you are getting as the T1.0 follows many of the same principles. The T1.0 uses the dhb glass reinforced Nylon sole which is 60% stiffer than last years. The injection-molded sole has been engineered to deliver an excellent stiffness to weight ratio so you get more power out for each foot stroke that you lay down.
The synthetic upper is made from two layers – the outer skin protects against knocks and scrapes and the inner quad core mesh maps to the foot shape and resists stretch. The low stretch means minimal power loss. Large mesh windows allow good air flow to encourage wet feet to dry quickly.
The single closure entry strap is set up for triathlon use, fastening inwards (not outwards) so at transition your strap won’t get tangled in your drivetrain. The strap has keeper nodules, to keep the strap in place in the eyelet, so you shoe can be left wide open and ready for your foot at transition. The big, easy grip heel loop allows you to tug the shoe on quickly for a fast getaway.
At the ankle end of the shoe there is a discreet thermo plastic heel counter, which is sandwiched between the cushioning layers of the shoe. This added support and stiffness provides lateral stability and allows the rider better control when making hard efforts.
The aesthetics of the shoe are light and minimal with high visibility reflective detailing all around for road safety on low light training rides.
The sole is configured for use with road-style, 3-hole cleat-pedal systems (Look/SPD-SL/Time). (Note: not suitable for 2 hole cleat types.)

About Tri Shoes
Triathlon racing cycling shoes are designed without compromise to provide the optimum power transfer between your foot and the pedal, a good quality triathlon shoe is a wise investment for performance and weight saving and is often overlooked. High-tech materials and precision manufacture keep weight down and stiffness up, this means your rotational mass is lower and power transfer is higher, resulting in more forward momentum for your effort. The main difference between a Tri shoe and a road shoe is the number of straps found on the uppers, Tri shoes tend to have one large strap for quick and easy removal during transitions, whereas a road shoe will have three or even four straps. For longer distance events such as half and full Ironmans a road shoe could be a wise choice though.

Magazine reviews for dhb T1.0 Triathlon Cycling Shoe
Review from Triathlon Plus
Dusting off that old bike in the shed and giving tri a go? The DHB TR1.0 is the shoe for you. It does everything the others on test here manage even though they cost a lot more. Granted there are a few small caveats, but none which will get in the way of you giving this sport a go. The upper is a tough synthetic leather with nylon mesh panels to encourage air flow without totally freezing your toes and reflective trim for low light safety. The shape is broad and roomy, though we'd have liked a slightly narrower heel cup to really nail the fit. Props to DHB for angling the strap forwards away from exposed skin. We'd have liked a longer heel tab- maybe that's a change for next time- though all things considered the DHB TR1.0 is still a solid buy.
In conclusion...
You simply can't beat the price. Good performance too especially in chilly conditions.

DHB clearly work off a standard mould which cuts tracks for two bolt cleats in all of the cycling shoes. However, in this shoe they are sealed with rubber and if you take out the insole you CANNOT remove the rubber as the glass nylon layer is glued down over it.
There's a reason I know this...having followed the incorrect advice given elsewhere here!!!!! But it's my own fault as it is stated in the spec that they are not suitable for 2 hole bolt cleats.
I don't believe that the shoe is compatable with the two bolt metal SPD cleat without an adapter.
Hope that helps!

I do not ride triathlons and wanted to know if there was any major difference between this shoe and the road version. So does it matter if i ride with this shoe instead?
