The Vaeon Zero bib tights are dhb’s warmest Winter legwear offering. The Italian fabric is 235g Thermoroubaix Lycra, which is made from
45% Nylon, 42% Polyester and 13% Lycra. The Nylon provides excellent dimensional stability, abrasion resistance and stretch recovery. The Lycra elastane fibres work in conjunction with the beautifully engineered warp knit to offer a powerful 4-way stretch. The added polyester content allows for increased thermal retention. The hollow fibres trap insulating air within them and then are precision brushed using MITI’s patented technology to create a soft, luxurious fleecy ‘Roubaix’. A sea of brushed fibres trap more air creating an unrestrictive insulating air barrier between your skin and the cold outside, helping you to stay even warmer.
The most significant warmth upgrade in the Vaeon Zero (compared to the Vaeon Roubaix) comes from large wind blocking panels along the front face of the legs, which remove the chill factor when riding in cold Winter temperatures (-2 to 8 degrees) whilst retaining breathability. This added barrier helps to protect the sensitive knee joint from extra cold temperatures. Teflon coating on the fabric not only provides water repellency but also further helps to reduce porosity and block wind. Mesh paneling at the torso allows the user to better control their own climate, layer up or down depending on ride intensity and natural running body temp.
The CyTech Tour chamois (padded insert) provides the best level of comfort in the dhb Winter legwear range, making this product the best choice for a full day in the saddle in coldest Winter conditions. A high level of anatomically shaped, multi density padding - spreads the load across the saddle – reducing pressure points to a minimum. The smooth contact fabric face uses CyTech’s patented ‘Elastic Interface’ fabric, which is designed to endure continual, flex and stress without causing chafing.
Note: Due to the nature of the Windslam windproof membrane areas on the legs, those with very large thighs may want to considering chosing a size up. Our model has a 58cm thigh, and wears the dhb Size M.
Vaeon – for Autumn weather.
Vaeon Roubaix - for early Winter weather.
Vaeon Reflex - for early Winter weather and low light conditions.
Vaeon Zero - for coldest weather.
About Cycling Tights
Winter cycling tights, also known as 'longs' are the best way to keep your leg muscles warm when the weather turns cold. Fleecy backed fabrics are comfortable next to your skin and help retain warmth, even when they're wet. Look for double-layer knees to keep your joints protected. Calf-length tights, also known as 'knickers' are great for days when it's not too cold but you want to keep your knees warm.
About the dhb brand
The dhb brand was first born in Hampshire, England. The founders – d, h and b decided they didn’t want to just sell bicycle gear but they also wanted to be involved with every aspect of it’s design and development. Magazine reviews for dhb Vaeon Zero Padded Bib Tight
Review from Outdoor Fitness
Deploying wind-cheating fabric on its front-facing panels, the Vaeon proved a valiant campanion when winter showed its teeth, and its Teflon treatment offers useful water-repellency. The stretchy thermal fabric has a brushed lining for comfort next to the skin, and ankle loops prevent the leggings from riding up. The pad offers sustained comfort, and the bib rises generously above navel level, where a zip allows for roadside comfort stops. However, while the extra height at the back brings welcome insulation, these tights didn't prove as breathable as the expensive pairs, especially in the area of overlap between tights and jacket. This is not a problem while riding, but it did encourage us to keep stops to a minimum to avoid sweat chilling.
In conclusion...
Great product for winter due to water-repellency and windproof fabric.

My current tights #cannondales) are not bibs with waist of 29" in size medium. These fit well except they are a little too long.
Any help on sizing would be great.

Fits great, straps are slightly tight but still comfy.
Hope this helps.

They are very comfy and canbe worn with any footwear.
After all most tights don't differentiate between XC or road use, although there are a few which are made with the off-road market in mind, I've always worn my tights whatever bike I was on.
It's not clear whether your issue is:
1. Suitability for MTB'ing
2. Temperature Range.
In relation to 2 the former versions of these, the Pace Super Roubaix, were very warm indeed. Excellent bibs and I would imagine that these build on them.
In relation to 1, they are absolutely suitable. Some MTB'ers wear shorts/tights under baggier trousers but, personally, tights are the way to go. They hae a stirrup and will fit well under your boots.
