About Cycling Gilets
A gilet is perfect for use on a bike, especially if you set off early in the morning before the air has warmed up. The windproof fabric keeps your body warm on the front where the chilly wind hits it without making your back too hot. They are light and easy to roll up and store when things warm up.
About the dhb brand
The dhb brand was first born in Hampshire, England. The founders – d, h and b decided they didn’t want to just sell bicycle gear but they also wanted to be involved with every aspect of it’s design and development. Five years later, with international expansion all products are still ridden extensively by the in-house R&D team in the local South Downs region. Getting out and riding is the core philosophy of the dhb brand. We want people to be outside riding doing what they love most. The dhb range of cycling apparel and accessories aims to engage all levels of rider - from novice, to triathlete and competitive sportive rider. We have worked with skilled technicians and factories across the globe to bring ‘our’ kit to ‘you’ - the enthusiast. dhb has experienced phenomenal success in the United Kingdom, and over the past years our reach has extended through Europe to fellow riders in Japan and Australia. The new branding for dhb is a turning point marking our increasing energy for our brand. With more cyclists spinning their wheels every day, dhb will continue to provide kit that offers technical, elegant solutions, with longevity for your best rides.

Looks good either way but want to know what it really is

I would think this is a little large to put in a rear pocket as the material is quite thick.
Good gilet though.
Regards
I'd describe it as a wear from the start and all day Gilet.
I would recommend it.
Back pockets, so just wear over a base layer or minimal jersey.
Fit is close, with a nice high collar - a really sweet garment!

I found the sizing guide pretty good when it came to buying mine.
I have an XL that fits right, and I am 70 kg and 1,70 meter tall. I would recommend you the XXL size.
Regards.

under that would be ideal, particularly when it drops below 8 C
This is a semi soft shell material in front.
I ride in Brisbane.
Note this gilet is not really the type you roll up and stuff in the back pocket of a jersey. It's too bulky. If you want that sort of product (for warmer rides) go for the dhb ultralight gilet.
