No. The cable runs on the outside of the bar, held in place with the bar tape.

Answer:
No, the cables are routed outside of the handlebar. The design of the shifters is such that the cables/housing is secured along the outside-bottom of the drops. I have about 4 inches of the housing under my bar wrap before moving the bar wrap between the handlebar and the shifter cable - this helps keep it securely mounted and prevents interference when gripping the drops.

I have Jagwire Barcon mounts (google for "Jagwire BarCon Shifter Mount" - why does no-one sell these in the UK??!) which, rather than having the expander plug to fit inside a handlebar tube, clamp on to the outside of your bars/tribars. The machining detail on these matches the shimano mounts to allow you to fit Shimano bar end shifters onto the Jagwire mounts. Are these Dia-Compe shifters compatible? I.e. if you take them apart, do the Dia-Compe shifters fit onto and work with an equivalent Shimano mount?
Many thanks

Answer:
You can als buy Dia Compe downtube shifters at wiggle. This shifters also feature the ratcheting mechanism. So I guess, the shifters are the same.
If I'm right, the bar end mount needs to have standard downtube mount.

Answer:
I am sorry but the only way to truly know this is to dismantle the part and try to fit it to the Shimano mount which is not something we can do at this time. I would recommend checking on some bike forums for someone with a similar problem who may be able to help you through past experience.

They have enough pull for 9 speed so they'll be fine. You will need seperate brake levers to suit your outer bars (dia-compe 287if you are using drop bars)

Answer:
These will be fine for clip on aero bars. You may have trouble fitting brakes to the extensions as well unless you can find a external clamping aero brake lever, most fit in the end of the bar the same way that these shifters do and use internal cable routing. If you are using drop bars still you could keep brake levers in the usual place and ride on your hoods or standard drops if you are in a situation where you may need to brake.

Answer:
There is enough adjustment on these to fit either the old style small diamter bars or the new style larger diameter bars - the screw expander system has an overall movement range over 3-4mm.

Hi, interested in these but wondered how easily I could change from my Campy drops to putting these on the end of my clip-on Tri-bars?
Can you slot the cable in or do you need to thread it through a hole and terminate the cables?
Cheers

Answer:
The cable holder is not slotted, so you need to thread new gear cables into the blade. The existing cables to a campy ergopower lever may not be long enough, so you will need to buy new inner cables and possibly re-think the cable routing on your frame so that the outer cables terminate in the right place.

Answer:
The cables could not be routed inside the bars without some major modifications. However, I've seen similar bar ends mounted on aerobars with external cable routing that did not negatively affect operating the bars, breaks, or shifters.
