The Elite Ghibli Parabolic Rollers are ideal for a recovery session or to warm up at an event, they fold flat enough to be carried in the boot and provide an ideal warm up solution when on your race tyres or tubulars. Why risk a puncture warming up on the road?
Rollers offer very low resistance and are ideal to get your heart rate and muscles warmed up, they have been used for years by track cyclists in-between events due to the stop start nature of the sport. They also help hone your bike handling skills and improve pedalling technique, making you smoother and more efficient when on the bike.

Product Q & A

You won't get the hills in, but again I've no doubt that a consistent training regime that used mixed road riding with these rollers would leave you in better shape come the Ironman. At the very least your form would be improved and you'll keep to the training schedule whatever the weather.
In this case the Minoura Live Roll 700 Roller Trainer may be suitable due to its adjustable sliding frame with QR for dialing in bike wheel base length.
Do you want to make some power session or long lasting endurance.
on a roller you have to control balance as on the road and i think it is interesting as a glogal training of cycling abilities; but for long endurance session a turbo may offer others advantages: your can really read a book or look at TV or take lunch on a turbo; on a roller you really ride a bike and may fall by leak of attention
For the ultimate in winter workouts I recommend joining a spinning class.
I run a 54cm road bike and the wheelbase is 1000 and the good value of setting 1024 (1004 was for me very difficult to balance).
It is more to do with the fact that since the rollers have very little resistance, when you are riding them you are relying on gyroscopic effect of the wheels only and not benefiting from your moving body momentum, ie being able to lean into corners etc.
Hard to explain but get your wheels moving whilst holding onto something, get some confidence and then try letting go. Once you do it for a bit, you should be fine.
look at my comment on the elite V arion parabolic roller...
The instruction manual says to set distance between rollers the closer position of bike wheelbase. For me it was 4 mm and like this it was a real rodeo... increasing distance between rollers to the next step (of 20 mm more) gave me a mutch more peacefull ride. It is alway more difficult than a turbo or a medicine bike because you are really riding, not just pedalling on a seat, and this is y think the interest of the roller versus any other system.
The rollers do have a textured surface anyway
The tire with a slot becomes noisy.
If the pressure drops, by say 30psi, then the rear tyre will heat up significantly, and will start to "ball up" ... a sure sign that you are about to kill it!!!
