Elite Qubo Wireless Digital Trainer 5 5 4 4

Fantastic Bit of kit I had a traditional turbo trainer and it worked ok but never really gave me a realistic work out. I did some research and this little beast seemed to be the one to get. The reviews were not wrong. Set up was easy, had it working in about quarter of an hour. A good feature of this turbo is that you don't need to mess around tightening any screws to set the tension, its the weight of the bike and the rider which does this automatically. The turbo itself without the gadgets is great, there is enough resistance for me to stand on the pedals and really grind the steepest hill. The best feature however is the gadgetry. Set this up with an ipad (needs a dongle) and you have cadence, heart rate and even mapped routes at your finger tips. Set a route on the google map on the app and then ride that route complete with hills. It's a novel thing to say to the wife, just popping out to do a ride up white horse hill and back, when its minus 5 and there is four inches on snow. I now know why this item was on back order, its simply a great bit of kit and there are lots of people after it. 08 February 2013

Fantastic trainer well worth the wait The trainer was very easy to set up ten mins max The qubo's frame design is great compared to older travel trainer a frames I've used , the bike is held very well and the way it sits back onto the roller using your body weight is great I haven't yet used the iPad app (waiting for the dongle, elites own service team very helpful with questions on this ) , however the trianng programmes that come as standard with the trainers computer are great, from recovery to intervals a proper work out The resistance levels are more than enough, The wireless connection is great more than fast enough when the programmes change 01 January 2013

Excellent product This is a good compromise between a full VR trainer and a basic trainer. Fitting the bike is very quick and easy and a spare skewer for use with Mavic wheels is supplied. Just clamp the wheel then the weight of the bike and rider keeps it in contact with the roller and in the right place no fiddly adjustment to get the tyre on the roller in the right place. 08 November 2012

Simple to assemble, works great. A great trainer, easy to assemble out of the box just two bolts to hold the roller unit on. It's quiet and I can easily hear the TV while cycling. It paired easily with the control unit, the control unit is easy to navigate around once you've read the instructions. The power and program functions are great a few workouts to choose from that last between 45min to 60min depending on what you want to do or put it on the level setting and you can cycle all day if you like. The 16 levels of resistance are excellent and change gently from one to the other. You can use a 20" wheel up to 700c with no adjustment needed to the trainer which is handy if you have a mtb as well. It doesn't come with a front wheel riser so order one of them as well. The cadence is fairly accurate seeing as it doesn't have a sensor but can be fooled at times, I don't have an ANT+ chest strap so I can't comment on the HR function but if the rest of the trainer is anything to go by I think it'll work fine. Connectivity to iPad retina display

One of the reviews talked about being able to connect to an iPad. I can't find an ANT dongle that connects to the new iPad which has a different input to previous models? Is there one that fits?

The dongle that you need is a Wahoo Key dongle with is about £45. This is Ant+. Its a 30 pin connection as with the usual iPad 1, 2 connectors and not the current iPad which has the smaller
Lightening connector.
What you need to do is buy the Apple pin converter, which fits the new Lightening port but then provides a 30 pin connector. Once you do that you can then connect the 30 pin Wahoo Ant+ key dongle.

I can confirm that this trainer is of a similar noise level as the Qubo fluid trainer but if you would like to reduce the noise level further I would consider the Elite Training Mat which will reduce the noise level noticeably. I hope this helps.
