Top Features of the Mizuno Wave Alchemy 12 AW12
Wave Alchemy is simply the most dynamic motion control shoe a runner will find in the market, providing great control and support in a dynamic shoe that feels great to run in.
- Alchemy 12 update: New colourway
- Mens
The Mizuno Wave Alchemy 12 is a stability shoe for runners who need a higher level of support and stability from their running shoes. The unique Wave plate design features double fan wavetechnology which controls pronation but maintains a nice lightweight feel.
The latest Alchemy also comes armed with Mizuno’s AP+ (Acceleration Polymer Responsive Midsole), a midsole polymer engineered to provide fantastic cushioning mile after mile. Runners will actually see the benefit of AP+ in the Alchemy 11 in increased midsole durability, now providing improved support whilst maintaining a smooth heel to toe transition through the running cycle.
The X-10 carbon rubber compound provides durability and traction allowing for longer wear at high impact whilst Dynamotion Fit in the upper allows the shoe to provide stretch and support where needed, matching the movement of the foot for a unrivalled harmonious fit.

Revolutionary Infinity Wave provides the ultimate in cushioning, rebound and durability by reducing the shoes reliance on midsole foam |
| The Tech: Developed in Mizuno's Sozo Studio SmoothRide Engineering is designed to minimise the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot through the phases of the running cycle by reducing shock and increasing flexibility. This allows Mizuno to create running footwear that provides an extremely comfortable running experience through an even smoother ride. Cushioning at heel strike, the angle of the medial wave and midsole materials combine to achieve Mizuno
Smoothride.
What it does: Mizuno design philosophy. Links Mizuno technical components from heel strike to toe off to achieve maximum comfort, feel and performance. |
|
| The Tech: VS-1 provides
outstanding shock attenuation and is specifically located to compliment each shoe/running style and provide deformation to the midsole for correct and natural foot alignment through the gait cycle.
What it Does: Provides impact protection complimenting the shock absorption of the Mizuno wave plate. |
|
| Full-length midsole ventilation system reduces heat and humidity build-up inside the shoe | |
| The Tech:
X10 is made from Carbon Rubber. Located at the heel on the outsole.
What it Does: X10 is made of carbon rubber and protects high wear areas, and provides more traction at heel strike |
|
| The Tech: Developed by the revolutionary Sozo Studio. Extensive high speed video analysis showed how shoes distort in the collar and heel counter during the gait cycle resulting in loss of fit and causing heel slippage. The DynaMotion Fit system allows the upper of the shoe to interact with the movement of the foot. This relieves the stress on the upper which causes the distortion and results in fit being maintained throughout the full range of the movement. What it does: More comfortable better fitting trainers. Ensures superb heel fit. |
|
| Gender Engineering | Based on Biomechanical
research into the differences between mens and womens gait. Mizuno
constructs the Midsole/Outsole of each gender differently to improve the
ride, performance and comfort.

The Tech: Revolutionary New Midsole material. Lighter weight with increased cushioning durability. AP+ (Acceleration Polymer) only losses 20% of its cushioning after 600km. All Midsoles have a mileage as over time the material compresses. Mizuno's new AP+ Midsole takes longer to compress, therefore staying more cushioned for longer.
What it does: The AP+ Midsole provides a lighter more cushioned trainer for longer. |
About Stability Running Shoes
To determine the correct type of running shoe for your feet, use the tried and tested "wet foot test". Dip your foot into water and then stand on a surface that will show your footprint - a towel or piece of paper or cardboard. The shape of your wet footprint indicates the amount of stability you might need in your shoe.
If your footprint looks like the one on the right (with a a flare, but with the forefoot and heel connected by a broad band.) then you should choose shoes from the stability category on this page. Stability shoes offer a good blend of cushioning, medial support (to limit excessive inward rolling of the foot, which can cause injury) and durability. To provide stability, they often have a medial post or dual-density midsole - these are features that provide a firmer density under the inner edge of your foot. You should buy these if you’re a midweight runner who doesn't have any severe motion control problems and wants a shoe with some medial support and good durability
The Normal Foot
Normal feet have a normal-sized arch and will leave a wet footprint that has a flare, but shows the forefoot and heel connected by a broad band. A normal foot lands on the outside of the heel and rolls inwards slightly to absorb shock. It's the foot of a runner who is biomechanically efficient and therefore doesn't need a motion control shoe.
Best shoes: Stability shoes with moderate control features.
