The 5mm AirLite SCS Body Panel features internally crafted air cavaties to provide superior buoyancy. The AirRelease underarm panel is a breathable neoprene, which transfers heat and moisture away from the athlete.
AIRLITE SCS BODY PANEL
The dimpled exterior of Orca's exclusive 5mm AirLite body panel has full ventral coverage, from neckline to ankle. Constructed of the world's most buoyant triathlon-legal neoprene. Unique air cavities on the inner layer translate into a 15% more lightweight material, and a 25% increase in pitch-perfect buoyancy - guaranteed to improve swim times.
SPEED TRANSITION PANEL
Speed transition panel for faster transitions while maintaining the best seal in the water. Multiple design applications with one purpose: speed.
AIRLITE SCS BUTT PANEL
Constructed of the world's most buoyant triathlon-legal neoprene the dimpled exterior of Orca's exclusive 5mm AirLite butt panel has features unique air cavities on the inner layer. This translates to a 15% more lightweight material, and a 25% increase in pitch-perfect buoyancy - guaranteed to improve swim times.
CardioFlex Chest panel
A 2mm panel of SCS neoprene provides a greater level of flexibility through the chest and torso region.
DUOSMOOTH NECK 3
The third generation of Orca's DuoSmooth Neck, a neck seal that tapers from 3mm to 1mm, has a new construction for improved performance and comfort.
HYDRASTROKE FOREARM PANEL
Superior design with single-minded purpose. All-new printed silicone pits act as water traps, increasing pulling power in the catch phrase of the swim stroke. Embedded in a super stretch water-resistant OptiFlex 2mm jersey, the HydraStroke panel features Aqua Channels that provide through-flow of water, for reduced effort in the reach phase of your stroke.
HYDROKICK LEG PANEL
Silicone pits, shaped in a distinctive Orca pattern, act as water traps, increasing power during the kick phase of swimming.
NEOPRENE - AQUASKIN SCS
This extremely flexible neoprene is the base material for all Orca wetsuit panels. AquaSkin SCS supports an uninhabited natural swimming motion, extending to a 520% elongation rate, which allows the material to trace your body's motion. Second-skin comfort and superior movement is enhanced by zero water absorption and zero weight-variation, which can mean only one thing: more speed.
SLIPSTREAM ZIP
Race-proven drag reduction technology providing the least possible resistance between wetsuit and water.
Sizing advice: When selecting your size of Orca wetsuit the primary measurement is the chest size, arm and leg length is not so critical due to the nature of the material used.
About Wetsuits
Modern triathlon wetsuits were invented by Dan Empfield in 1987 and are customized to the needs of triathletes, they generally incorporate the following key features which differentiates them from a normal wetsuit. 1, Thinner and/or more pliable rubber near the shoulders. 2, Long zippers to facilitate quick removal during transition. In addition, tri wetsuits have a very smooth, but often fragile, surface. This slick surface helps to reduce water friction and allows a faster swim. Another advantage of a tri wetsuit is the added buoyancy that the wetsuit provides, this can provide triathletes with a considerable speed and energy saving advantage over swimming without a suit.
About the Orca brand
Whilst working as a swim coach, and from his first hand experience in competing in triathlon, Scott Unsworth realised that the wetsuits used at the time were completely inadequate for swimming. In 1992 Scott started up a company called Performance Speedsuits Ltd, based out of his parent's house in Auckland, New Zealand. He began to develop his "Speedsuits", which featured greater flexibility and buoyancy than other existing wetsuits. The business started with Scott selling his Speedsuits from the back of his car at swim meets and triathlon events. The Speedsuits quickly gained a following amongst athletes and the business started to grow. Scott was taking his first steps towards introducing what would become Orca, to the world. A young New Zealand triathlete named Hamish Carter became one of the first athletes to sign up with the company that is now Orca. Over the next 13 years Hamish Carter went on to become one of the best known triathletes in the world - culminating in a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
