The frame is powerful, the down tube is massive, and the bottom bracket, heart and fulcrum of this triangle, is unyielding to the power you'll unleash when you stand on the pedals. The distinctive features are all there: the Onda™ fork and rear will guide you safely through the most demanding curves. 24HM carbon with 12K finish.

The compact chainset, with a wide range of sprockets on the cassette, gives you a large choice of gears for speed and for climbing. Many sportives events incorporate some nasty/steep climbs on the route so having a compact chainset makes life a little bit easier.

First carbon bike Looks amazing Feels great to ride Very smooth .... 02 June 2012

FP2 better quality than advertised The bike arrived quicker than usual for Wiggle. Build quality and customer service excellent as always. The bike frame itself is not done justice by the photographs or advertisements ! Its a solid responsive frame and the ride is really smooth. Having ridden Campag on my previous road bike I was hoping not to be let down by the 105 and compact set, I wasn't! Shifts superbly and if anything the compact set is an advantage although for downhill its probably missing an 11 sprocket (easily purchased!). The other key parts of the bike are above basic and good standard, with the seat particularly exceeding expectations. The downside to this bike is the wheelset , tyres and breakpads. Very basic in comparison to the rest of the bike but considering everything else how else could they keep the cost down? On the bright side simply placing racing wheels on this bike gives you a fantastic lightweight carbon machine with high end Shimando groupset for half the price you would pay usually. The final piece of good news is the Pinarello guarantee! Would highly recommend this bike to anybody and feel its fantastically good value for the quality provided. Only the wheels lose it a star and even then you can just use your racing wheels and have a solid pair of training ones! Many Thanks 19 May 2012

Pinarello FP2 2011 Great bike just what I need should suite me for some time to come. Only very minor problem, brake lever hoods they seem a bit short causing my hands to blister. I've never needed to wear glove before but I might have to start. Minor price to pay for such a wonderful ride. 14 May 2012

WOW This bike is absolutely something else! Especially for the money. However I do think that the pictures don't show the bike in it's true glory. The attention to detail is to die for. If you buy this bike off the pictures and haven't seen it in the flesh then you are in for a real treat. Then after the visual excitement you get to ride it. Just as impressive. Then you get to look at it again! Can life get any better???? 13 January 2012

Depends on your inside leg length and reach. Suggest you look at the frame dimensions and check them against your current bike. Judging by your quoted height a 53cm could possibly be a bit on the small side, but that is just an opinion based on lack of information on leg length.

Based on your measurements I would suggest the 53cm is going to be too small for you. A 57cm would be more appropriate.

Answer:

Depends on your leg length and reach. There are charts on most dealers websites that you can check. As a rule of thumb, a 51cm sounds right, but check the frame dimensions against your current bike, this may help you make a decision. The 51cm has a slightly sloping top tube (semi-compact) and the modern trend is to have a fair bit of seat pin exposed, particularly on a compact frame.

I would suggest 51cm would be the better option on this particular bike. They do size slightly larger than standard so the 51cm would be the closer equivalent to the Trek you have.

The size of bike will depend on your inside leg length and your reach. There are many charts that may help you to decide, but it is sometimes down to personal choice, e.g. how much seat pin do you want to protrude out of the frame. For an FP2, the size for you could be anything from 51 to 55cm but see if you can try the bike first, or look at the dimensions of the frame and compare it with your current bike. As an example; my grandson is about 5ft 5in and he has a 51, with allowance for growth of about another 2 - 3 inches. He may have to change stem size as he gets taller.
