About Gear Cables

Transfil is a quiet giant of a company. Suppliers of control cables to the French car industry, Transfil also produces inner wires and outer cables for bicycles. The original gear or brake K.ble sets were surpassed by the more upmarket Black Snake compressionless system with a Teflon coated jacket, resistant to water, mud and sand. Then followed the Flying Snake with watertight carbon/ Kevlar outer casing weighing 30% less than the K.ble set. The very latest Nox Snake has a white carbon outer casing with Teflon coated inner tubing. These sets are MTB or road bike compatible.

Cables are always that part of your bike that seem so much hassle to clean.

For lazy arses who would like a cable set that they simply fit and forget, this is it. The MudLovers are a water tight cable set for all gear & brake systems.

Early Days but appears to be good kit I'm trying out this system as I'm regularly wallowing around in mud and puddles on my local hill and my shifting was really sticky due to ingress of water etc. Good idea to read the instructions carefully to make sure the liner is fitted the correct way round as it has a flattened end which goes at the control end - otherwise it's fairly straightforward to fit although the outers are really hard and rugged and need a good set of cable cutters to cut cleanly. I'm left with a single short section of white translucent liner ( different to the cable liner) which I'm not sure what to do with First impressions are that this set makes a big difference to good shifting but the recent snow has prevented me from testing it over a period of time in dirty conditions, hence only 4 stars for the present 06 January 2011

worth the money These so far are as good as the Gore sealed, the only difference is there is no coating on the cables (this soon wore out on the gore) and no consetena seals for the ends. 30 October 2010

Ok a little basic, but i guess a lot cheaper than SRAM Flak Jackets although you will have to replace them around twice as often, personally Id spend a little more initially to save having spend a lot more and have to do the job twice within the same time frame. 29 September 2010

winter filth protection One of a few products which will keep your biki shifting through the winter months if you have any exposed cable routing. It uses a liner which sleves the brake cable for its entire run so even where you would have cable stops and exposed cable, the liner still covers the moving cable. Similar to Gore tex cables and Goodrich, but cheaper, its a good upgrade for bikes reqularly ridden in the wet and mud if you dont want to keep replacing inners. I have found that the cables themselves stretch a bit in the first few rides which means a bit of adjustment ffrom new, but they soon settle to give good dependable shifts. 05 May 2010
