The XCX ST is a seat tube mounted version of the currently successful e*thirteen XCX.BB 1x9/1x10 cross country race guide. It is designed to be mounted to any frame that is capable of using a standard front derailleur mount.
The high-mount may be more popular since high-clamp front derailleur mounting is more popular, but the low-mount version has its place and may be more suitable in cases where water bottle cage mounting bolts may potentially interfere with the high-mount XCX design.
The chain-line is adjusted via a plastic eccentric seat tube shim. There are three shims included with each retail packaged XCX ST guide kit - for adapting to a 28.6mm, 31.8mm or 34.9mm seat tube diameter. These guide kits are retail packaged in rectangular boxes and of course include installation instructions.
The XCX, has been used by friends and employees of e*thirteen since 2004 and now has been proven at the highest levels of competition right out of the gate. Having won the Men's Elite Silver medal in the 2009 UCI World Championship Cross Country race the XCX is the first chain retention system in the world to podium at a international World Cup XC event.
About Chain Devices & Bash Guards
Chain devices fit in various places around a mountain bikes transmission and help to eliminate chain suck and chain slap when riding over rough terrain or landing from big drops. There are a number of fitments, some frames have ISCG mounts which are lugs on the drive-side of the bottom bracket shell and allow direct fitment to the frame, other chain devices fit in between the bottom bracket and frame and require a specific bottom bracket with a larger drive-side cup, and finally there is the type that clamp around the seat tube in place of the front mech. Also within this section you can find single speed chain tensioners which fit in place of the rear mech and take up any chain slack.There is also a selection of wheel tugs which stop you pulling your wheel over in horizontal dropouts.
