The Flash can use either disposable or rechargeable batteries, the best performance will be from using Exposure Lights' own batteries. The Flash will produce 40 lumens output with disposable CR123A battery, or 110 lumens output with our rechargeable RCR123A battery.

About Front Lights

Cycle light technology has moved on greatly over the years, traditional 'bulb' lights have been more or less replaced by LED and HID systems. Battery, lens and reflector technology has been improved greatly resulting in brighter and longer run times. Wiggle lists a large selection of bicycle lights suitable for lit streets in the city, or unlit country lanes and even bike lights suitable for off road riding, ranging from around £8 to over £300 they vary greatly in purpose and performance. All electrical goods sold on wiggle that come with a mains power supply are supplied with a UK plug. Most power adapters will accept 110-240 Volts.

In order to cycle on the road it may be a legal requirement in your country to use a light certified to a specific standard or an international equivalent. Most but not all lights sold on Wiggle are certified and labelled with a European CEN standard. Please check your country’s requirements to see if this is sufficient and if necessary contact the manufacturer to see if this light has been additionally certified for your country. Strangely some of the very best lights are not legal on their own and should be used with an additional legal backup light.

Excellent bit of kit It might help put my review into context if I explain what I wanted this light to do prior to telling you what I think of it. I already have a 900 lumen 'torch' that I bought from Hong Kong which does sterling service guiding me through the pitch black back lanes on my 30 mile daily commute however, it's a bit overkill when it's not quite dark but not quite light. Therefore, I was looking for a light to be seen with rather than to see with. My priorities were: 1. It had to be bright enough to make me stand out, even in daylight. 2. It needed to be reliable and be able to survive the worst of British weather- I've lost count of how much I've spent on useless lights over the past years, and getting stuck in the middle of the night without lights is not fun. 3. The battery had to last over 20 hours and then be easily and quickly changed by the side of the road without any special tools. 4. It had to be cheap to run. 5. It had to be easy to remove and small and light enough to put into my pocket. 6. It had to be easy to operate. Well, I've been using an exposure 'flare' for about a year and have been very impressed with it's quality and performance so I though I'd give the flash a go. So far its been fantastic - it's immediately obvious that it's a quality product not like some of the more 'plastic' big brand lights. I was impressed with how small it is, yet the output is much better than other lights I've used that are many times its size. Although it's early days, I've been out is some atrocious weather where absolutely thrown it down and, so far, the light has been faultless - many lesser lights would have given up the ghost! Changing the battery is simplicity in itself and carrying a spare rechargeable one with me takes up no room at all. There is no screwing or clamping ugly plastic holders to your bike, it simply fits on with the neat 'elastic' fitting and moving it from one bike to another takes but a couple of seconds - brilliant. I noted that other reviewers had complained about difficulties of switching it on and off and must admit that it can be fiddly - exposure should have replicated the bracket used by the flare - however, how often do you really need to switch your lights on and off? All in all I'm very happy. 21 October 2012

Compact light that packs a punch! This light is really compact but incredibly bright, so much so that you get a few scowls from pedestrians. Being able to have the light on a constant setting with flashing is a great idea, there really is no excuse for not seeing a cyclist using one of these. The light clamps securely to the bars and stays in place no matter how bumpy the road gets. The only slight flaw in the design is the twist function to turn the light on and off. It works great but can not be done one handed while riding, if you use one hand the light simply twists round in its holder and does not switch on. The sheer brightness of this light outweighs any negatives however. 05 October 2012

Light & Bright It has 2 modes- constant and flashing. Easy to activate by twisting the front lens but not so intuitive when switching modes. I think a button would be most useful for toggling. It is well made and comes in a tough body. A further improvement would be to include an anti-slip material on the cradle so that the entire light doesn't tiwst around when u twist the lens to turn on or off. Again, a button would be most useful for this purpose. Overall, well made and serves its purpose well with its brightness. Hint: a button would really improve the user experience! 20 May 2012

Junk This light was in the bin within a month of arriving. It was clear this was a bad product from the moment I opened the packaging and spent the next 15 minutes trying to get the unit to function. The light would only come on if a part of the water-resistant seal around the front edge of the lamp was removed. Not surprsingly, the fist time I got caught in some rain, it was all over. Not recommended. 12 May 2012

I can confirm that the MK2 was released late 2012 and it is brighter than the MK1 in both the flashing mode which is now 110 lumens and the constant which is 40 lumens. I hope this helps.
