New for 2009..."SPT - Smart Port Technology"
SPT, Smart Port Technology allows:
Smart charging from mains or car charger
Piggyback battery connection for extended burn times
Access to a range of optional extras including RedEye and Remote Switch.
SPT is activated by depressing the lights' power button for 4 seconds, the light then rapidly flashes to indicate the port is now active and an SPT accessory can be used.
How Long Does It Burn For?
Each Exposure MaXx model has the same burn times for each of the 3 main settings. The difference is as simple as 1,2,3. Depending on whether you choose 1, 2 or 3 LEDs (Joystick/Race/Enduro)
MaXx: 3 hrs / Ride: 10 hrs / Low: 24 hrs / Flashing: Days!
How Bright Is It?
Again in 2008 we are using the World's leading LED technology. The new Seoul emitters run brighter and more efficiently than the previous Luxeon LEDs allowing Exposure Lights to give you previously unheard of brightness. WARNING: Never look directly into the LEDs even if you're wearing sunglasses!
Joystick MaXx on: MaXx: 240 lumens / Ride: 120 lumens / Low: 60 lumens.
What's The Beam Pattern Like?
Exposure lights exclusively use collimated lens techonology. These lenses are World renowned as the most efficient optics to be used with LEDs. Moving on from our previous model ranges, we have this year developed "Dual Beam Optics" (DBO) in our collimated lens. What we have acheived is the perfect combination of flood and spot beam pattern in a single collimated lens that measures only 18mm in diameter! Using the same DBO lens across the MaXx range gives optimum beam pattern on the trail or on the road from each light. Again, it's as simple as 1,2,3 whether you have a Joystick, Race or Enduro light, each uses the same DBO lens.
What Extras Do I Get For My Money?
The Wiggle Joystick MaXx is exclusively available with patented universal helmet bracket for and a handlebar bracket with no extra charge, this is usually an extra £20!
Every Exposure MaXx light comes with smart charger. The smart charger has an LED that varies between Red and Green, depending on its state of charge. Red = Charging, Green = Charged.
What Upgrades Are Available?
Every Exposure MaXx light works with the new "Piggyback" battery system. 1 or 3 cell "Piggyback" batteries are available and plug in to the charger port of any light to extend your burn times...... to the MaXx!
What Size Is The Joystick MaXx?
All the new MaXx Lights are seriously small. All lights are based on a simple cylinder and the Joystick MaXx measures 25mm wide by 100mm long.
What's in the box?
The light unit itself, smart charger, helmet bracket upper, helmet bracket lower disc, handlebar bracket.
Only one Smart Port accessory can be used at a time. I.e. you cannot have the Remote Switch and a RedEye rear light at the same time
About Front Lights
Cycle light technology has moved on greatly over the years, traditional 'bulb' lights have been more or less replaced by LED and HID systems. Battery, lens and reflector technology has been improved greatly resulting in brighter and longer run times. Wiggle lists a large selection of bicycle lights suitable for lit streets in the city, or unlit country lanes and even bike lights suitable for off road riding, ranging from around £8 to over £300 they vary greatly in purpose and performance. Tiny LED's with flashing or constant modes are great for being seen in built up areas, whilst rechargeable systems can keep the road or off-road trails lit up for non-stop riding at night.
All electrical goods sold on wiggle that come with a mains power supply are supplied with a UK plug. Please check the product description to see if any other plugs are known to be included in the box, otherwise you may need an adapter for use in your country. Most power adapters will accept 110-240 Volts.
In order to cycle on the road it may be a legal requirement in your country to use a light certified to a specific standard or an international equivalent. Most but not all lights sold on Wiggle are certified and labelled with a European CEN standard. Please check your country’s requirements to see if this is sufficient and if necessary contact the manufacturer to see if this light has been additionally certified for your country. Strangely some of the very best lights are not legal on their own and should be used with an additional legal backup light.

Magazine reviews for Exposure Joystick MaXx 2 Wiggle Front Light
Review from MBR
Review of the Exposure Joystick MaXx-2.
With no cables to wrestle with, feather-like weight, multiple brightness settings and excellent helmet and bar mounts, this is a truly versatile light to have in your armoury. Strap it to your bars for commuting, then clip it to your helmet for some off-roading, where it is capable of holding its own for light use. Alternatively, it would make a valuable supplement to a brighter bar-mounted set up.
Exposure has now empowered the rear charge socket on the light, allowing you to tap power off it to run a choice of rear lights, plug in a remote switch or connect a piggyback battery to extend the life to ridiculous proportions.
The only slight drawback to the bar mount is its Allen key fitting. The light unit itself quick-releases perfectly, but if you want to swap between bikes you will have to take a few minutes with a multi-tool to loosen and remove the mount a small gripe which doesn't prevent this light getting the full marks it deserves.
In conclusion...
A truly versatile product you will likely get value for money from.

Review from MBUK
Review of the Exposure Joystick MaXx2.
Exposure's slimline, self-contained spotlight eliminates the leads and excess weight that make helmet lights a pain in the neck. The narrow beam gives focused detail wherever you look and the twin-cone helmet mount fits easily to everything but piss pots.
The new Smart Port gets a tiny but bright plug-in rear light as standard, plus remote switch or extra battery options. The three-hour burn on max power (plus 'ride' and 'low' settings) will be enough for most riders. The beam is too focused to use on your bars off-road though, so save the neat metal mount for road use. The small switch is slightly awkward to use and we'd recommended a tether because low branches can knock the light off.
Super light self-contained design and tight focus make this the ultimate headlamp.

Review from Emma-Kate at Wiggle
Anyone who has already “seen the light” when it comes to the Exposure Joystick MaXx 2 will know this is the Daddy of all front lights – you simply can’t mess with its credentials.
Rock solid but slim-line, it is arguably the best designed light on the market, combining funk and function and performing equally well whether mounted on your helmet or your handlebars.
When riding with it on your helmet, it is so lightweight you’ll forget it’s even there – although motorists coming towards you won’t as its LED kicks out a mighty 240 lumens.
With a great burn time and impressive battery life, you can rely on it on the darkest of winter nights and you’ll certainly never be left wondering who turned the lights out.
For an LED, it has a brilliant beam which stretches a good 40 to 50 metres and can be used on two settings, high and low, with a flash mode also available.
The intelligently-designed Smart Port on the back provides space for an extra battery, a remote switch or a remote LED, which comes in mighty useful.
Buttons are easy to locate and operate and it has clearly been designed and manufactured by people who really know what bikers want from their gear.
It’s no surprise to see it is one of our best-selling items as it is without doubt a top performer.
In conclusion...
We’re currently selling our Limited Edition Joystick MaXx which boasts the same great spec as the standard model but is anodised in a Wiggle orange finish to really make it stand out from the crowd. It is exclusively supplied by Wiggle with a helmet mount and handlebar bracket worth an extra £20, so if someone you know has it on their Christmas list this year, go on, do the light thing and buy it for them...
