Fast Forward Carbon Rear Disc Wheel 4.8 5 24 24

Currently one of the cheapest discs out there at the moment but probably one of the best. relatively lightweight and the hub bearings are super smooth straight out of the box. I've been using Zipp 404's on my tt bike and this disc is to replace the rear, the difference is unbelievable considering the zipp wheel is no slouch. Coming with a padded wheel bag and cork brake pads makes this an even better deal. Its a lot of cash but if you want to take your time trialling to the next level it can be justified. 11 May 2010

Smooth My first disc wheel and can't complain much. The only setback is that I forget to order a valve adaptor for the wheel. Normal floor pump will not fit in the wheel hole. I need to get a very short presta valve tube to fit my cheap floor pump and it's a hassle. I think the manufacturer should have provide the valve adaptor together with the wheel. 11 December 2012

Fast and whooshy Really pleased with this disc wheel. I've gone sub-30 minutes on all my 20 km TTs this year so far, and have raised my average over the course from 38 to 40 kmph. May well be improvement in my form, but I definitely think this wheel, coupled with my Easton up front, makes a difference. Nb. Makes a great intimidating whoosh noise as you go past your mates :) 11 November 2012

SUPERB Bought it following positive reviews and value for money and was not disappointed - pleased to see that shortly after purchase was being used in the pro peleton! My times have increased dramatically and progressively and no doubt this disc has helped. Fraction of the cost of other brands but just as good 31 October 2012

What Size Tubular?

Hi, I have just got one these Discs from you and have just got the tyre. I ordered A 28x 22 Conti Comp. It is the size I use on my other FFWD Wheels. But the gutter on the disc the tyre sits in is approx 2-3mm narrower than the other wheels . The 22 looks to big to me. Could you please advise me on the correct size tyre.

You will be fine with a 22c tyre and a 23c would also be fine.

Is the Campy freehub compatible with 11 speed drivetrains? Not clear from the FFWD website.

What make is the FFWD hub? Can the freehub be converted between Campy and Shimano? If so, how?

Answer:

The campagnolo version will accept a campagnolo 11 speed cassette. This wheelset has fast forward hubs with 4 sealed cartridge bearings and a Carbon/Al hub shell. The freehub body can be switched between shimano and campagnolo.

No you don't need a valve extension, although you will need a pump adapter to fit into the opening in the wheel. They are not expensive and are available on wiggle. Would reccomend the zipp type.

Answer:

It'll be best to get an adaptor to fit your pump that comes out sideways from the valve, most pumps have to big a head to fit into the 50mm diameter valve hole.

The FFWD tubular DISC is full carbon and requires carbon specific brake pads. As with all FFWD wheels with carbon brake surface the brake pads are included with the wheel.

I have never know a sticker that could not be removed by patience and warm water. These are stuck on well and clearly I can not pursue trying to remove some from a set to find out because I may ruin the sticker, but I believe they could be removed.
