Top Features of the Felt AR4 Ultegra 2012
Felt's AR4 Ultegra is a slippery road bike offering triathletes and breakaway merchants alike that extra bit of efficiency through the air for times when saving every single watt counts. Road bikes really don't get much faster than this.

The frame of the AR4 Ultegra is from the AR (Aero Road) series of Felt Road bikes which means while lightweight, rigidity and comfort are still important factors the primary concern of the design is aerodynamics. This means every effort has been taken to smooth the path of wind over the frame including a shaped downtube, bladed fork, moulded seat-tube (to shield the rear wheel) and an aero shaped seatpost too.
Even the internal cabling has been thought through with the entry point for these being behind the stem on the top tube (a design feature borrowed from Felt's DA Time-Trial/Triathlon bikes) where the air is already 'dirty' as it passes around the steerer. You get twin bottle cage mounts, a replaceable forged aluminium rear derailleur hanger and Felt even chose to keep the AR frame un-tapered at the headtube to reduce the overall frontal area presented to the wind. No excuses then!
Shimano Ultegra 10 speed components adorn the AR4 giving you impressive performance at this price. This includes the integrated brake and gear shifters, brake calipers and both front and rear derailleurs. The chainset is a compact FSA team issue model made from carbon fibre meaning it is both light and stiff as well as providing the spinning benefits of a 52-36 chainring set-up too.
For the wheels you'll find Shimano's R530 wheelset hard to beat in terms of reliability and their 30mm rim profile keeps things aero too. There are more aero wheels on the market which have correspondingly eye-watering price tags but the RS30's are not just about being aero and can handle their fair share of climbing and sprinting too.
For the finishing kit Felt supply their own-brand cockpit and aero seatpost but you get colour matched tyres from Vittoria which is a nice touch.
Whether you're a club rider looking to shave seconds off your times or a triathlete looking for one bike solution the Felt AR4 makes plenty of sense.

About the Felt brand
Felt is an American bicycle manufacturer based in Irvine, California. In the early 1990s the company was founded by Jim Felt who designed some of the very first triathlon bikes that propelled many of the worlds greatest athletes to Iron Man victories. High profile sponsorship has remained an intrinsic part of Felt’s strategy highlighted by their association with the Garmin Transitions professional road team and Olympic Triathletes Jan Frodeno and Emma Snowsill. With a strong product focus Felt has gone from strength-to-strength, going from just six bike models in the USA to over 150 bike models, sold in over 30 countries. Felt have created a niche group of highly skilled and dedicated people who work together to create bicycles that consistently exceed their riders’ expectations by providing a sense of individuality, inspiration and pride in ownership. Felt are not governed by their competitors’ measurements of success - the desire to push beyond the limits of technology never allows Felt to rest on their laurels. As their universal mission statement suggests, Felt’s reason for existing is “To design, develop, and deliver the best bicycles in the world. Period.”

Is the ar4 a good triathlon option and can it be fitted with clip on aero bars?
Answers
the tubing is aero, so good against the clock in triathlons.
I'm currently riding a 53cm Bianchi 1885 but can't see online how the two compare size wise!
Thinking a 54cm frame but worried it maybe too long on the top tube but think a 51cm maybe a bit small as I've long legs?
