Top Features of the Felt F5 105 2012
The Felt F5 is at heart a racer's bike. Built for riders with a passion for speed but with a specification and price that don't require a sponsor's backing.
- Road
- Frame Material: Carbon
- Wheel Size: 700c (622)
- Fork Material: Carbon
- Model Year: 2012
- Brake Type: Caliper
- Chainset type: Compact
- Groupset Manufacturer: Shimano

The frame of the F5 uses the exact same geometry as the range topping F1 model ridden in the Pro Tour and as a result shares the same precision handling and power-transfer characteristics. It features a tapered head tube and matching tapered fork meaning the front end inspires cornering confidence as well as minimizing flex when sprinting. The bottom bracket area is also incredibly stiff and allows for the use of a larger diameter BB30 chainset which both increases pedaling efficiency and decreases weight.
The groupset is predominantly Shimano's tried and tested 10 speed 105 and offers the same gear ratios, under-tape cabling and ergonomics as the much costlier Ultegra and Dura Ace mechanical groupsets from the brand. This means functionality is top drawer but keeps cost attainable. The BB30 chainset is a compact model from FSA and provides lower gearing for better climbing and means even on hillier terrain you shouldn't find yourself longing for a triple.
The F5 rolls on some nice wheels too which is often somewhere a brand might skimp to save some pennies. Forged aluminium hubs with sealed bearings throughout are laced with a proper set of competition spokes from DT Swiss onto Mavic's popular and lightweight CXP-22s rims. You can get lighter, fancier wheels with far more exotic materials but durability and quality are good here and the machined rim side-walls mean braking performance is consistent too.
While the finishing kit is mostly in-house to keep the price sharp, including a carbon seatpost to help reduce road hum, Felt still opted for good quality tyres from top tyre brand Vittoria.
The F5 begs to be ridden fast and offers more than enough quality to either the enthusiast road rider looking to upgrade or the racer on a budget.
Each F5 is fully built, tested and tuned by Wiggle's team of qualified bike mechanics to ensure you're bike arrives in perfect condition. To find out which size fits you use the size chart below.

About the Felt brand
Felt is an American bicycle manufacturer based in Irvine, California. In the early 1990s the company was founded by Jim Felt who designed some of the very first triathlon bikes that propelled many of the worlds greatest athletes to Iron Man victories. High profile sponsorship has remained an intrinsic part of Felt’s strategy highlighted by their association with the Garmin Transitions professional road team and Olympic Triathletes Jan Frodeno and Emma Snowsill. With a strong product focus Felt has gone from strength-to-strength, going from just six bike models in the USA to over 150 bike models, sold in over 30 countries. Felt have created a niche group of highly skilled and dedicated people who work together to create bicycles that consistently exceed their riders’ expectations by providing a sense of individuality, inspiration and pride in ownership. Felt are not governed by their competitors’ measurements of success - the desire to push beyond the limits of technology never allows Felt to rest on their laurels. As their universal mission statement suggests, Felt’s reason for existing is “To design, develop, and deliver the best bicycles in the world. Period.”

My important measurements for the bike size are my height which is 182cmm, inside leg 84cm. This puts me smack in the middle of a 56cm and 58cm. Thoughts anyone?
Thank you.

Can I just change the cassette to: Shimano 105, 11-28 (from 11-25) or will I have issues with the rear derailleur (Shimano 105, short cage) or the chain length.?
Will I see much of a change?
Answers
Just in case others have the same question I can confirm that I was able to change to 11-28 without having to change the rear mech or the chain. As expected the large ring to rear 28 works fine but is a bit of a stretch. However, as I do not use this combination all is fine.
cheers

Leg length is easy to adjust, just raise the seat. Reach length is much harder. Change the stem, angle it up or down according to how you feel.
So it is difficult to have a definitive answer. But definitely you must add TT and stem together
yes the 58cm Felt has a 58cm top tube, so if you are happy with this currently it makes sense to continue as a big change in position could cause discomfort.

It fits fine with no need to cut anything. Just be sure to watch the video on their website to help with the fitting.
