Top Features of the Felt Z6 Tiagra 2012
The Felt Z6 is designed for the long distance rider looking not just for speed and style but comfort and compliance too. The first rung of the carbon Z series bikes from the brand means getting into some serious road riding is easier than you think.

The Felt Z series bikes are all conceived with the same geometry featuring a slightly longer wheelbase, longer (read higher) headtube and more relaxed overall layout making long days in the saddle more enjoyable than the sportier F series bikes and much more comfortable than the aero AR series. The frame is fashioned from modular monocoque carbon fibre which allows for flexibility in the design in terms of where compliance can be built in and means the material as well as the shape of the tubes add to the comfort of the bike as a whole. All this compliance makes the Z6 ideal for both newer road riders looking to stay happy and ache-free especially on longer road rides or less flexible riders who still want to enjoy road riding.
The Z6 comes built with mainly Shimano Tiagra components including shifters and mechs, and the compact Omega chainset from FSA which coupled with the broad 12-30 tooth cassette means you've plenty of help getting up the hills. Brakes are unbranded dual pivot offerings meaning that while they've helped to keep the Z6 price down you should still get good stopping power.
For the wheels Felt have used Felt branded forged aluminium sealed bearing hubs which are strong, free spinning and light, laced to Mavics venerable CXP-22 rims and giving you a wheel package that while not the most exotic is still good quality offers plenty of reliability in regular use.
The finishing kit is mainly Felt branded with the nice inclusion of a carbon post and good quality Vittoria tyres. There are lighter, glitzier road bikes available but in terms of delivering comfort, enjoyment and reliability at an accessible price the Z6 punches well above its weight. About the Felt brand
Felt is an American bicycle manufacturer based in Irvine, California. In the early 1990s the company was founded by Jim Felt who designed some of the very first triathlon bikes that propelled many of the worlds greatest athletes to Iron Man victories. High profile sponsorship has remained an intrinsic part of Felt’s strategy highlighted by their association with the Garmin Transitions professional road team and Olympic Triathletes Jan Frodeno and Emma Snowsill. With a strong product focus Felt has gone from strength-to-strength, going from just six bike models in the USA to over 150 bike models, sold in over 30 countries. Felt have created a niche group of highly skilled and dedicated people who work together to create bicycles that consistently exceed their riders’ expectations by providing a sense of individuality, inspiration and pride in ownership. Felt are not governed by their competitors’ measurements of success - the desire to push beyond the limits of technology never allows Felt to rest on their laurels. As their universal mission statement suggests, Felt’s reason for existing is “To design, develop, and deliver the best bicycles in the world. Period.”
