WINGFLEX: Champion riders in all disciplines are using Fi'zi:k WinFlex saddles. Longer than normal, they provide a 12% larger seating area overall. These designs offer a greater variety of seating positions for different riding situations and better pressure distribution. The flexible WingFlex edges of the base enable the rider to sit further back in the saddle without being forced forward by pedalling motion acting on the sides. |

ICS: (Integrated Clip System) A convenient design that allows Fi'zi:k bags and lights to be attached instantly to the saddle base. no additional brackets or tools required. |
About Performance Saddles
Performance saddles are narrower than the models designed for shorter ride comfort. They're intended for riders who have a committed riding style with weight on hands and feet so they're narrower and lighter. High tech padding materials and flexible body designs keep your pressure points comfortable and lightweight chassis components keep the weight down. Most have some kind of ergonomic design to reduce pressure on nerves and allow unrestriced blood flow to your sensitive areas. Womens models have a wider design to suit their naturally wider pelvis. Saddle widths vary across the ranges from narrow (upto 130mm), medium (upto 138mm) to wide (upto 146mm). Narrower saddles are the popular choice for longer distance riders as they do not cause the hips to be placed in an unnatural position. Wider saddles will often feel comfortable initially due to their greater surface area but then progressively decrease in comfort as the miles increase, the correct choice of saddle is a case of getting the balance between initial comfort and overall comfort.
About the Fizik brand
The Fi'zi:k brand was born in 1996 - a high-end bicycle saddle line, designed and handmade in Italy by the world's largest saddle manufacturer. Fi'zi:k is the phonetic spelling of the word "physique" - referring to the form or state of the human body. Fizik have three saddle shapes; there is the dipped platform found on the Gobi and Aliante range. The second is their flat style found on the Arione and Pave range. The third is the new Antares which sits between the previous two shapes. Dipped platform saddles give a supported riding position and 'cup' the pelvic bone, these are ideal for riders who tend to remain in one position on the saddle. Flat saddles allow the rider to move forward and backwards on the saddle and are ideal for distance riders on varying terrain. The Antares range bridges the gap between dipped and flat saddles, offering 300% more padding and a 15% larger sitting area when compared to their competitors saddles. Whilst still maintaining a low weight from as little as 145g, there has been no sacrifice to construction or rider comfort. For 2009 Carlos Sastre, of Cervelo Test Team and 2008 Tour De France champion, has made this his saddle of choice. Fizik produce saddles in varying lengths to suit riders needs, Arione are longer in length at over 300mm with an increased nose length. The Pave, Antares and Aliante ranges are a more traditional length at under 290mm. Triathletes, Time Trialists and women are specifically catered for with the Vitesse range. Within this range there is the Tri/TT specific range which incorporates increased padding in the nose of the saddle for extended periods on the tri-bars and the Ladies Life Vitesse which is specifically shaped for the female form.

Magazine reviews for Fizik Gobi XM Kium Saddle 2010
Review from Bikeradar
The Gobi has everything we look for in a saddle - some flex in the hull, enough swoop to the spine of the saddle to make you feel the 'hammock' benefit, but without feeling boggy.
The new shape for 2008 is more supportive than the old one thanks to a more defined seating area towards the tail -- something we appreciated after the third hour in the hills. The nose has been squared off, the seating area increased slightly and the hammock effect reduced.
One of its key features is the signature kick to the tail. This isn't just for show; when rolling up to a long climb, it enables you to push back on the kick and use your lower back to press harder on the pedals. And if you need to keep the front end down, the Gobi has one of the best-shaped noses to slide forward on to.
Titanium rails - K:ium in 'dang the rules of spelling & punctuation' Fi'zi:k-speak - counter the weight of the padding, and help keep the Gobi at a weight - 250g - that still appeals to racers and marathon riders. Steel rails are also available for a 30g weight penalty.
There's enough reinforcing to survive a few crashes and the unique ICS (Integrated Clip System) allows you to clip Fi'zi:k's bags and tail light directly into the saddle.
We weren't keen on the looks of the old Fizik Gobi, but it now looks a bit more purposeful.
If you're a rider who logs the miles and just finds 'race' saddles a pain in the plums, then the Gobi XM is for you.
In conclusion...
Right now, this is the best general-purpose saddle on the market

Review from What MTB
We can't help but wonder when the Gobi is going to bettered as our choice for all-round mountain biking, as it's heading our list for the third year in a row.
That's probably because it manages to combine qualities that should be mutually exclusive - a wide supportive platform with excellent manoeuvrability, for example.
It's comfortable all along its generous length yet doesn't interfere with fast spinning action and, while the upswept rear provides support for long seated climbs, the cushy nose allows you to finetune your position for steeper sections and also gives good control on long descents.
Much of this comes courtesy of the flex technology, with wings that allow for unhindered pedalling whatever your position, and tail flex that not only absorbs shock but allows for easy on/off moves too. With titanium rails sucking up vibration, this is one comfy perch.
The cosseting hammocky quality might deter riders who want to put in some fast, furious cross-country race times, but we reckon that if you're comfortable you ride faster anyway.
This is the saddle that gets mentioned most consistently in dispatches from our regular riders and testers as the one to choose for their everyday trail needs.
In conclusion...
A consistently high performing trail saddle

Review from MBUK
The Gobi utilises Wing Flex technology slots in the side of the saddle base. The theory is that the saddle flexes and responds to your weight changes, and it works extremely well in practice.
Combined with the hammock-like shape, it makes for a superbly comfortable ride. The upswept rear provides a stable support to press back against and generate more power on long seated climbs, while the long nose means you can adjust your position in comfort on steeper or more technical sections.
A consistent favourite with anyone who rides or tests bike for a living, the Gobi remains the saddle to beat off-road.
In conclusion...
Winning comfort-and-performance combo
