In a time trial the difference between success and failure can be hundredths of a second, with the Focus Izalco Chrono you can make every one of them count. This aerodynamic masterpiece and the fastest bike in the world was constructed in collaboration with Swiss specialist Andreas Wasler and in 2009 was at the starting line as the time trail bike of the German UCI ProTour Team Milram.
Andreas Walser is renowned for his advances in aerodynamics with time trial machines, so much so that professional riders used his designs in favour of their sponsors bikes, even going as far as to get them resprayed to look like their sponsors machines!
The Walser designed Izalco Chrono is packed full of features to reduce your times, these are:
Concealed Brake and Gear Cables - To reduce drag and turbulence
Parallel Moulded Rear Stays - To direct and preserve laminar airflow around the rear wheel
Material Aligned Design - Carbon aligned, flowing transmission for a wrinkle free lay-up and ultimate stiffness
Interior Cable Routing - For the optimum in aerodynamics and beauty of form
Aerodynamic Head Tube - Combination of the best aerodynamics and slim tube diameter with excellent stiffness
Full Carbon Drop outs - massive, stiff and light carbon drop outs for higher load capacity and a more stable connection between chainstays and seatstays
Focus have then gone to town with the equipment, a mixture of Shimano's top of the range Dura Ace and Ultegra components has been used along with a pair of Prime TT/SL brake calipers, 3T aero bars and stem, a Fi:zik TR12 saddle and then to top it off a pair of Focus deep section wheels wrapped in fast rolling Continental Grand Prix Triathlon tyres.
