About Mech Hangers

Replaceable rear mech hangers are designed to snap if your rear mech takes a knock, this can save the frame from un-repairable damage. It's advisable to keep a few mech hangers as spares in your toolbox or kit bag as manufacturers may sell out at peak times, which could result in the bike sitting there awaiting a small part. When travelling abroad for training camps or races we would also suggest taking a couple with you, as there is nothing worse than arriving to find your rear mech bent inwards and having to miss out on the ride. Mech hangers come in many different fitments and are often specific to the brand, at Wiggle we try to keep as many mech hangers listed as possible.

Get One Just in Case If it breaks your rendered useless, as a friend of mine found out. Decided as a result to keep a spare in the saddle bag just in case needed. 12 June 2010

Not impressed Given there's not much choice when it comes to replacing a hanger, it's a pity that this Focus hanger is a) expensive and b) needed to be filed to fit squarely. The problem was definitely with the hanger and not with the frame. 07 June 2012

An important bit of kit mech hangers are an important bit of kit so if you can get a spare one to keep around the house then do so. There isnt much to say about this particular hanger apart from the quality is good considering what a mech hanger is designed to do and the price is good for a very important bit of bike kit. 19 February 2012

FOCUS MECH HANGER I was cracking on down in BRECHFA on one of the trails there (IF YOU CAN GET THERE IT IS A BRILLIANT PLACE FOR MOUNTAIN BIKING) when there was an ominous crack bang followed by the seizing up of my pedals as the mech hanger had decided to part company with the frame. You purists will say that is what it is there for- to protect the frame from damage when some monkey has gone too far in the wrong places. I put up my paw and a few bananas to that. Result was I was in the middle of a forest far from anywhere with a bike that couldn't be pedalled. Now if I had a spare mech hanger all would have been well- it is a very easy to change bit of kit- an allen key and an adjustable spaniard would sort it. Alas and alack, I had neither so it was a long, grumpy, slow walk / push back to the car. Emailled WIGGLE to ask what the bit was and how much- really good service and the part was winging its way to me by the Royal Mail. Luckily Postman Pat decided he did not want to steal my package and it was delivered to me in swift order. The item was as described and just right for the task. Well you expect it to be as it was manufatured by the guys who made my bike (Focus Raven) - there are better more expensive bikes but I like it so there. Again the wave of monkey hand and bananas. So if in trouble, get it from Wiggle. 01 February 2012

The SO54 will fit some Cayo's, the bets thing is to match to the picture to be sure as it depended on date of manufacturer as to which hanger was needed.
