Take your ride to the next level with the Edge 305 - Garmin's GPS-enabled, personal trainer and cycle computer. From competitive road racing to mountain biking, the cyclist-friendly, lightweight Edge will help you achieve your personal best. With the easy-to-use Edge 305 on your bike, you'll always know where you're going and how far you've gone.
For advanced cyclists, the Edge 305 comes packaged with either a heart rate monitor or wireless speed/pedaling cadence sensor to provide valuable feedback. Heart rate and speed cadence are also sold separately as accessories so you can incorporate both features into your training. In addition, the Edge 305 incorporates a barometric altimeter for extremely accurate elevation and vertical profile data. Recreational cyclists looking for the perfect touring companion and fitness partner will love the Edge 205.
The Edge 305 has the ability to measure pedaling cadence, heart rate, speed, distance, time, calories burned, altitude, climb and descent, plus much more.
The Edge 305 with heart rate lets you see whether you are training too hard or not enough. The heart rate monitor uses a robust wireless technology that eliminates cross-talk and interference and sends heart rate data to the Edge via a soft, comfortable chest strap. This data is stored with each track point for post-workout analysis.
The Edge 305 with cadence includes a self-calibrating, wireless speed/cadence sensor so you can monitor your pedaling cadence as you ride. Like the heart rate monitor, the speed/cadence sensor uses the same robust wireless technology to measure and report your pedaling strokes per minute.

About GPS Cycle Computers
GPS receivers are now made waterproof, lightweight and small enough to fit on a bike easily. There are 2 basic choices to take on your bike: a GPS unit designed primarily for navigation with a dedicated bike mount, particularly suitable for cycle touring and finding your way in unfamiliar territory, like the Garmin eTrex Vista Cx; or a dedicated bike computer that uses GPS to track your training routes and provide detailed analysis of your workout like the Edge 305, with more limited navigation capabilities. Most units come with only very basic maps installed and you may need to purchase more detailed maps for your area to be loaded onto the unit for navigation.
All electrical goods sold on wiggle that come with a mains power supply are supplied with a UK plug. Please check the product description to see if any other plugs are known to be included in the box, otherwise you may need an adapter for use in your country. Most power adapters will accept 110-240 Volts.

Magazine reviews for Garmin Edge 305 GPS with Heart Rate or Cadence Sensor
Review from 220 Triathlon
Now this is something totally new, if not entirely unexpected - a GPS - enabled unit that's far more than just a bike computer. If you're prepeared to put a phone-sized unit on your bike, you'll find fitting is extremely easy. Both bar and stem mounts are supplied, and then it's just a case of switching on and letting it search for satellites for a few seconds. (it even comes with a rear-wheel speed sensor for turbo use).
Display options range from how many data fields you have on screen at one time (from 3-8), what each displays and what orientation you want on your readout. It captures all the speed, altitude, heart rate and calorie-burning info you need, and even collects 3D route info fro downloading. It comes with its own training software plus some free website trail offers. The only downsides are limited re-chargeable battery life, its bulk, and an over-enthusiastic calorie counter.
In conclusion...
Every possible piece of bike/HR and route info imaginable
Rating: 8/10
Review from What MTB
This new GPS-enabled bike computer is s seriously addictive piece of hardware. For start there's no wheel measuring or cablingf to faff about with - just zip tie on the stem or bar mount provided, clip on the mobile phone sized unit and give it a few seconds to lock onto local satellites for fix. Once home, the software provided lets you study your route and all the ride data in map, customisable, multi-layer graph or table form on a PC. It's even accurate enough to show different lines on the same trail in steep wooded valleys. The battery life is relatively short though and one unit we tried occasionally just wouldn't power up. These are minor glitches though.
In conclusion...
Super comprehensive yet easy to use bike data logger/GPS unit

Available to UK residents only.
