Still Looking for windblock socks I have a great pair of Goretex "wind block" socks ("Chiba" brand) from about 5 years back that are soft, easy to put on (nice zipper in front), and keep my feet toasty in winter, avoiding the need for full shoe covers in dry weather down to around 0 celsius. They are worn out and I am looking for a replacement. These Gore Tex socks are NOT that. First, they are very hard to put on. They do not have a zipper, and the top of the sock has a very tight band. I can barely pull the XXL over my feet/ankle and I can hear the sock's elastic almost starting to tear as I do so. I guess they used a tight band so water does not leak in? Or just poor design or made for someone with stick-like legs and feet? Also, watch out for sizing. I am a size 46 cycling shoe (11.5 US shoe size) and I ordered the "L" size sock since I could not find info on the Wiggle site about sizing and I've never needed more than an "L" size sock. Hah! It arrived and the package said it was for 41-42cm shoe size. Size 8-9 US. No way I could fit. I gave them to a friend and ordered the XXL. They are the right size, basically, but still difficult to get on the foot, and not flexible or warm once on. They do look waterproof and breathable, so I'll look forward to trying them on a Christmas or New Year ride. But I expect better from Gore. 23 December 2010

I think a must for winter rides - get a tight fit around your warm winter socks, and this will really help to keep toes warm!! Nice elastic top will hopefully keep most of any water out that dribbles down from your tights - little expensive, but put them on ya Xmas list, and i think youd wish youd had them sooner!! 27 October 2010
