Whether its ripping down a singletrack, racing through a wooded trail, or descending like a whippet, the Force Carbon Expert, with it's front/rear 150mm of travel, Shimano Deore XT drivetrain components and Formula disc brakes, has it all.
This machine is a must have hardcore trail bike. Featuring a host of impressive components - from well known brands, the Force Carbon Expert will tame your need for total trail fun whether it's filing away drops and banking steep berms, hacking away down a crazy descent run or by satisfying your need to get completely covered in mud. Whatever you choose, this is the machine to do it with.
The frame holds three key features: Firstly the frame uses FOC Ultra Carbon. This takes a minimalist approach to carbon fabrication by using the fewest layers of high-modulus carbon possible to achieve a stiff, reliable, responsive ride. In other words, light enough for GT’s XC race ready machines and burly enough for Enduro DH race bikes. Secondly the frame features the AOS (Angle Optimised Suspension system) which isolates your pedal forces from the suspension, so all the effort you out into pedalling stays with your pedalling and your suspension only reacts when you need it to. And thirdly the frame uses the Independent Drivetrain technology (see below).
At your disposal is a bike that is built with Fox 34 Float forks - giving a plush 150mm of travel, and Fox Racing rear shock with rebound adjust and lockout that also gives 150mm of travel. Built around all this are components from Shimano (Deore XT/SLX) and Formula (T1) hydraulic disc brakes.
The drivetrain featured on the Force Carbon Expert is a mix of Shimano Deore XT, SLX and RaceFace. Shimano's SLX is found at the shifters, whilst a RaceFace Evolve double chainset is the driving force for the Force Expert. Couple this double chainset with the 10 speed rear cassette and you have 20 gear choices to choose from. Meaning you have the gearing to get up the steepest/muddiest slope and the gearing to maximise the speeds when descending or racing along the flatter sections.
With speed comes stopping and this achieved thanks to Formula's awesome T1 hydraulic disc brakes. Superb braking performance is guaranteed in all weather conditions with the disc pads clamping themselves around the hefty 180mm disc rotors.
The wheels need to be as strong as an ox, so to withstand the punishment you throw at them, this machine comes fitted with WTB STi23 27.5 (650B) rims, which are built on a pair of All Terra hubs (15 x 100mm front and 12 x 142mm rear), with a pair of Continental King Protection (27.5 x 2.4) tyres wrapped around them. Continental are renowned to give excellent grip in all weathers and carve through deep mud with ease. 27.5’s provide faster rolling and better bump absorption than a 26” wheel, yet lighter, stronger and more nimble than 29’s.
Topping off this beauty of a bike is the finishing kit. This is a mixture of Kore, KS and Fizik components. Firstly you have Kore's Mega bars (760mm) and Cubix stem. Wide bars giving you control that you need when descending and roomy feel on climbs. Secondly you have the KS LEV Integra dropper seat post. At the flick of a lever, you can drop the post so it's out the way when you are tackling the fast descents, and thirdly the saddle comes in the shape of Fizik's legendary Gobi MTB saddle. A great mixture of brands that deliver superb performance, great reliability and gives you the confidence of knowing this pretty lot will perform when hacking down a descent, or whizzing through the woods at speed.
Hit the trails hard with the Force Carbon Expert and have bags of fun in doing so. Trail bikes balance strength and durability with lightweight and ride ability, so they are equally at home on the singletrack, the sprint for the finish line or the Sunday thrash with your friends.

Independent Drivetrain: This suspension does its job. Period. Because it operates independently of the drivetrain, the suspension can focus solely on its intended purpose – a smoother, faster ride – without making compromises in pedaling efficiency. And because it’s an inherently simple design, it’s easy to set up, ride and maintain.

GT Bikes, based in Southern California, has been in the business of making great bikes since 1972 when Gary Turner launched one of the first performance BMX race bikes. Developing world class bikes in conjunction with the world’s best BMX rider such as Greg Hill, Eddie Fiola, Clive Gosling and Dave Mirra, GT grew into one of the biggest brands. With a BMX heritage and based in California the MTB scene was the perfect addition in the late 80’s . GT used the same model of developing performance bikes with the best riders, pioneering new suspension technology and the use of carbon fibre in MTB frames. Winning numerous World Championships in downhill and cross country racing with legendary riders such Nicholas Vouilloz, Steve Peat and more recently Atherton Racing, with Dan Gee and Rachel Atherton. Hans “No Way” Ray has been one of the figurehead of GT’s longstanding team rider program, setting the record for longest sponsorship deal of 26 (?) years and counting. It hasn’t always been about dirt, in the mid 90’s GT took there carbon technology and build track bikes for the USA Olympic team, the bike was later banned for being too fast. GT latest crop of Enduroad Grade models play perfect testament to the brands heritage across, dirt, road and track.
The size chart below will get you on the right size bike. Experienced riders may also wish to refer to the geometry chart for more detail.
Getting the Right Fit
At Wiggle we measure each of our bikes to build accurate size charts for our customers. Our qualified team of mechanics then individually check each order, against measurements supplied by you, to ensure the size chosen is correct. Another reason you can have complete confidence when buying a bike from Wiggle!
If you are on the change over between sizes both options will fit. Racers and experienced riders would usually select a smaller size as this offers quicker handing. A larger bike offers more stability and is more suited to new and intermediate riders.
