Hamax Give Us the Choice! Hamax sells typically brilliant Scandanavian products. We bougt the Kiss seat for our youngest (a year old) and as the most basic of Hamax's child seat we are very happy. We felt there was no need to upgrade to any of the other seats. Our gripe (and the reason for a low score) was that your purchase comes with a standard bar which doesn't fit our bikes (and from the reviews lots of others). There was no suspension from this standard bar and our 1 year old's ride was true misery - Lots of spine jarring and teeth bashing going on. We had no choice but to purchase another bar for small framed bikes which works a treat and comfort has been restored. It's a pity that Hamax don't give us the choice of which bar to buy at the point of purchase. Ultimately they are cleverly forcing us into making two purchases from them which is a bit of a cheap trick. Add another £15.00 contingency to your budget so you aren't disappointed like we were. 29 October 2010

Just the job! Bought a Hamax 'Sleepy' to attach to my Diamondback 29er, but once fitted the seat was resting on the back tyre even when empty! Tried it on my old Saracen and partner's Trek but with the same result... Ordered the 'support bar for small frames' but wasn't sure whether it would lift the seat enough to be of use. However, I'm pleased to report that it has solved the problem and we're all very happy with the whole set-up. The bar sets the seat about 3.5 inches higher as well as about 2 inches further back than standard which leaves plenty of room for it to flex over bumps etc. Whilst the new support bar is great, I think that Hamax have got a cheek expecting people to pay for additional parts for a brand new product - surely they should offer a choice of bar to begin with? 30 July 2009

Problem Solved I thought the 70 pound Hamax Siesta that I bought for my daughter will be put to waste. So glad that I found a solution that is so effective. The standard support bar that came with the carrier was not suitable for my MTB, Claud Butler Cape Wrath D27. I tried to search the internet and found the correct bar but a bit expensive. I remembered your store and very pleased to find that you've got what I was looking for. But the best of all was the price. It was much mcuh cheaper than the other stores. 26 July 2009

which type for GT frame?

GT triple triangle frame similar to

would this count as a "small" frame from the "which hamax alternative bar point" of view? (even though its not, its a 19" mens MTB) with the bracket clipping on the down tube below the top "triangle"?

This is more based on the size of your bike, I would consider a 19" frame to be on the large side so a standard fit should be ok. If this gives a forward or backward slop you can return it to order the "Solve" bar for the fitting problem.

Will Hamax fit Orange G3

I have an Orange G3 where the front mech cable runs along the top tube and down the seat tube. Will the bracket fit on the seat tube without hindering the front mech cable?

Answer:

You should be able to fit the mount between the cable and the frame as the bulk of the bracket is on the main triangle side of the frame rather than the rear end. There is a chance it will interfere with your cable though.

If you have a standard frame then I would suggest the small frame size would be the appropriate sizing to go for in this case.

Gazelle Basic

My wife has a very reclined Amsterdam style Gazelle Basic Bicycle. I have attached a picture to help. I certainly need one of the support bars to help. I don't know if I should get "Solve backward slope" or the "for Ladies" or "For small bikes" even though that has been discontinued.

Maybe some pictures of each bar would help?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
