TECH LEVER: New! Ambidextrous 'flip flop' design, CNC machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aircraft spec aluminium alloy - with a split clamp to allow easy set up and choice of positioning. New! Redesigned piston, lever and pivot assembly with external 'on the fly' reach and bite point adjustment dials. The new lever linkage eliminates freeplay in the lever giving a consistent and reliable feel to the brake.
Further developments include bearing lever pivots for smooth, rock free use and increased lever ergonomics with a perforated lever for extra grip and feel. Also, a double sided reservoir lid makes for easy bleeding. The master cylinder assembly is completed with our durableanodised finish to withstand weather, cleaning and general trail use and Goodridge stainless steel braided hose to give a sharp, solid feel to the system.
V2 CALIPER: NEW! revised one piece caliper, CNC machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aircraft spec aluminium alloy. The V2 caliper has had some small changes for 09'. A drip free bleed nipple and wide angel
orientation of the fluid inlet connector have also been added, allowing for neater hose routing and cleaner servicing.
The caliper is completed with our durable anodised finish to withstand weather, cleaning and general trail use and laser etched graphics. A Goodridge stainless braided hose is fitted as standard to give a sharp, solid feel to the system.
DISC: The vented option can reduce surface temperatures by over 15%, making it perfect for long Alpine descents or where fade is a problem through overheating.
VENTED ROTOR: The vented rotor is available only for the Tech V2 brake. It is not retro fitable to the other brakes in the range or aftermarket to other brands. It is wider than a standard fixed or floating rotor. This rotor takes braking performance to a new level. Using the same proven floating design as our other rotors and advanced manufacturing techniques, the internal fins allow the air to flow between the two friction parts. The induced air flow significantly reduces and delays the heat build up in the rotor.
Dyno tests show a difference in temperature of 15% between a standard floating rotor and a ventilated floating rotor. The rotor also gives a better and more consistent braking performance in wet condition thanks to its capability to clear the water layer through the fins. If you want to abuse your brake in endless descents this rotor is for you.
About Disc Brakes
Bicycle disc brakes consist of a metal disc attached to the wheel hub that rotates with the wheel. Brake calipers are attached to the frame or fork along with pads that squeeze together on the disc. The way it is attached to the bike will be either by IS (International Standard) which has two holes facing the disc or Post Mount, which has threads going into the fork. Disc brakes have been successfully used on motorbikes for decades, and are the principal choice there. The primary benefit of disc brakes is that they perform equally well in all conditions including water, mud and snow. This is due to their position closer to the hub and away from the ground and possible contaminants like water, which can coat and freeze on the rim in colder temperatures. The pads are usually made from metal sinters or an organic compound instead of rubber. Water acts as a lubricant to rubber but not metal, therefore disc brakes maintain their stopping power in wet conditions. They also avoid the problem that rim brakes have of wearing out the wheel rims, especially in muddy conditions, as well as the requirement that the rim be straight. Disc brakes offer improved modulation of braking power and generally require less finger effort to achieve the same braking power. The advantages of discs make them well-suited to steep, extended downhills through wet and muddy off-road terrain, common in freeride bicycle riding.
