Shifting performance, durability and easy mounting are other key words for KMC Chain. We have the perfect chain for all type of riders.
A bicycle chain is a 'roller chain' that has the task of transferring power from the cranks to the rear wheel of the bike thus propelling it. Most bicycle chains are made from alloy steel, but some are chrome plated or stainless steel to prevent rust, or simply for good looks. Chains will vary in width depending on the amount of gears you have, most are 3/32 inch for use with geared systems and then come in 'speeds' which needs to matched to the cassette, ie a 10 speed cassette will need a 10 speed chain and so on. Track bikes or single speeds often run 1/8 inch rings so will need a 1/8 inch chain as well, these will have larger plates to aid stopping on a fixed wheel, which can add extra stress to a chain.

Kool chain is well known amongst BMX and freestyle riders for its strength.

Magazine reviews for KMC X10-SL Gold 10 Speed Chain
Review from Cycling Plus
If you fancy adding a flamboyant touch to your pride an joy you can't do better than fitting the gold X10SL. Slotted plates and hollow pins keep the weight down to race level and for its low race weight it's exceptionally durable. The X10SL is Shimano and Campagnolo compatible, we've had one of these running on the latter system for well over six months. It has been silent, silky smooth and has kept its goldy looking chain demeanour. The X10SL comes with a tool-free connector link and if gold is a bit too garish for you then a silver version is also available.
Very light, looks great, works even better.
Review from Cycling Plus
Fitting is a doddle with the KMC missing link system (very similar to SRAM's powerlink in use)...The gold finish of the (blingin') x10sl is not only good looking but also has a titanium nitride coating, which is claimed to improve the wear...in use, the best thing aboput any chain is that you don't notice it, and that is exactly what i found with the KMC. It's as quick shifting and smooth running as the Campag c10 it replaced, and after a couple of months' use it hasn't stretched or stiffened and still looks relatively good - not as pristine as it was as new, but that's to be expected.
An excellent, hardwearing chain with a great finish - a winner!

Thanks in advance.
No special tool required, the two haves of the (outer) link go through the two inner ends you have and simply slide together.
10 speed refers to the width of the chain - 10speeds are quite narrow and you will need a suitable front shifter to make it work properly (a 9 speed cage will be too wide to properly push the chain over the chainrings).
Can aynone please tell me if this chain, KMC10SL Silver will be long enough for my setup?
I presume shortening will probably be required and I will need a chain tool and the chain pins. Is there specific chain pins required or recommended for this chain?
Thank you for the help, it is much appreciated!
