I've looked and can't find any info, but do you need a mushrooming connecting pin (like you would with a shimano chain) when splitting and rejoining this chain? I'd imagine not, but the KMC website suggests that the pins mushroom out, which would be removed when you remove the pin.

Answer:
This chain uses mushroom connecting pins to help stop stretching of the chain, this means the pins flare a little at the end to help keep the chain tight. You can reuse the exsisting pins when you break the chain aslong as you dont push the pins right out.

Answer:
The missing link is used as the final connecting link. You'll still need to get the right chain tension and this might mean shortening it with a chain tool. Once the right chain length is found the missing link is slipped in and the connection is made by hand. There's a knack to this but it's not difficult to pick up.

Answer:
Yes. It's the same, and is operated in the same way as the SRAM item. You do need a chain splitter to get the chain to the right length on first installation tho, so I would question too-free installation. You'll also need a good quality chain splitter if you are altering the chain as the pins are Very tough to shift.

I fitted this chain to my road bike, 9-speed, Shimano 105 52-39 double chainset, Tiagra medium cage GS rear derailleur, HG80 cassette 11-28, and it runs perfectly, changes gear like a dream, and I had no problems. You do need a tool to push out the pin on a link in order to shorten the chain, but that worked fine for me, and rejoining with the supplied link was easy. Yes, I'd say.

Yes it will fit, but like all chains, you normally need to take out a few links to get the right length.
Assuming the original chain is the correct length count the links & make the new chain the same length using a chain tool to pop out the relevant pin

Answer:
You probably will need to take some links out of the chain so a rivet extractor would be recommended and required to remove and existing chain.
How many links will depend on the setup you currently run. My advise would be if you are replacing and existing chain, break off existing using a rivet extractor and measure up the new chain to same size. Remove any excess links and install. The chain does come with one link for installation but having spares is worth it. I installed it and then realised it was wrapped around the frame the wrong way so needed to break off and start again. Spare links are really cheap and well worth having a few spare knocking around in the toolbox.
