Performance Shoe I have used these shoes for a full season of racing and I have had no problems. These shoes are comfortable, stiff (for good power transfer), easy to clean and look great on the road or ripping round the boards of a Velodrome! 09 November 2009

These shoes have an inherent design defect I purchased these shoes and they were very comfortable for the first 12 months - mine were the MTB version, which has exactly the same closure system as the road shoes. The laces became worn and I contacted BOA Technology, who provided replacement laces free of charge. When removing the old laces, the outer insulating layer delaminated and blocked the lace channel that runs from the front to the back of the shoes. When this happens, the channel cannot be cleared and in my case, I had to throw out what were otherwise perfectly good shoes. A very poor experience as a consumer. 18 February 2013

Clear cutting of corners in manufacturing process I purchased these shoes in July 2012 and they were unwearable. Lake have tried to be clever by routing the wire that tightens the shoe all the way round the shoe to the tightening dial on the back of the heel. The problem is this - when you tighten the dial, if the wire is even sewn into the show upper a single millimeter out of place, then the wire will be tightening itself around the flesh of your ankle. This is the case with mine and after 2 rides I had to go and buy another pair of shoes. Most other manufacturers that use a wire to tighten the shoe place the dial in the classic position at the top of the tongue, but this is a clear design flaw on behalf of Lake. I thought I was getting handmade quality, but it is the single piece of equipment I have been most dissapointed with in 20 years of racing bikes. 16 January 2013

great shoes Great shoes very impressed Only issue is same as other reviews that the fore and back points on the shoes arent protected - it just the carbon moulding, so these get stratched up. I stuck rubber stops on them. I was a 46 in shimano and went with 45 on sizing guide. They are very snug, assuming they will loosen up. Grant 27 July 2012
