About Offroad Shoes
MTB Cycling shoes have stiffer soles than an everyday shoe, like a trainer for instance, this means that they transfer more power to the pedals each time you push down. By improving this connection between your foot and the pedal, you can ride longer due to more efficiency and with more comfort. Higher level shoes will have 3 straps on the upper which make them very adjustable and can improve comfort further. Mountain bike shoes have a knobbly grippy sole so you can dismount and run with the bike off road when needed, or walk for small periods if popping to the shops. Returned goods must be unused and supplied with their original packaging, unless the goods are faulty.

If the cable does break it proves that you're not maintain or looking after your gear. The steel cable is coated in plastic and yes it does break down after about 2 years, once that starts the cable starts breaking down. Not sure why, I guess the steel strands are so thin that corrosion starts eating it.
But Just like any shoe, Velcro will become less grippy, shoe-laces can brake and even those ratchet type systems don't last forever. I would suggest that when the plastic starts breaking down that's the time to replace the cable.
The service kit comes with a tool, a new cable and a new BOA knob. $20-30 not a big deal and easy to do.
This shoe in particular covers a lot of the cable so I would think not having it exposed to the elements the cable will last a lot longer.
don't worry at all about the BOA system this shoe is awesome!
It provides even closure, so no pressure points.
Extremely strong and easy to use.
Life time warranty on BOA system.

The difference is minimal in sizes between the shoes. Back in the 90s lake shoes actually used the shimano last and sole (lake shoes had shimano written on the soles of the shoe)
"Lake models 2010 and earlier..may require lugs to be trimmed to allow cleat to properly seat against sole."
The pedals & shoes were gifts, my very first pair pedals & shoes (all purchased from Wiggle). Any assistance provided would be greatly appreciated.
